In a dramatic incident on October 28, at a convenience store near the Sutthisan police station, police subdued a Chinese man who entered the store wielding a knife, leading to minor injuries for two police officers. Bystanders also intervened to assist in his apprehension.

Around 16.00 Sutthisan police received an emergency call reporting an agitated Chinese man brandishing a knife inside a convenience store near Soi Si Muang Anusorn, just 400 metres from the station. The man, reportedly in a distressed state, was speaking in Chinese, holding his passport, and using a translation app to tell the store’s female employees he feared being kidnapped for ransom.

When officers arrived, the man refused to let them approach, leading to a tense standoff. Police ultimately charged and subdued him, during which he struggled, causing one officer to sustain a minor knife wound to the mouth and another to the neck. Approximately three to four bystanders in the area also assisted the officers in restraining the suspect.

Witnesses described the man as appearing disoriented, with an intense look in his eyes. He was reportedly unwilling to allow men near him, responding only to female employees, who had alerted the police via a 191 emergency call.

The suspect is currently being held in custody and faces charges of assaulting an officer on duty, resisting arrest, and carrying a knife in a public place without justification. Both injured officers have been treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital.
