Upsets me? You have 45000 AUD and you class yourself as "Elite" 😁

How much do you think Aussies aged 60 have in their Super account?

I can assure you I have 20 X your 45000 Australian dollars in my Super account and I don't even have or want a ELite visa

Is that it? £450k gbp at age 60 🤣

I added +£300k gbp last month!

The generalizations are under attack.

In respect to this comment that was made, I was under the impression that Jomtien was the go to destination for Pattaya region  LGBQTS2+ people, like the happening place for older gay men. Why then would there be women in need of care? Has something changed in Jomtien?  I have been to Pattaya, but not to Jomtien, so I may very well have the wrong impression.

Wow. I find that Hua Hin is as expensive as Bangkok and more so on higher end things. For example, the quality hotel brands like Marriott and Dusit have higher rates than comparable hotels in Bangkok. It is understandable though since they are on the beach.

It is all about economy of scale and Bangkok offers that.  Bangkok also offers a greater selection of products, the big BUT is you have to know where to go and how to negotiate to get the  lowest prices in Bangkok. Cocktails at most decent restaurants in Hua Hin are 120-150 baht.  Night life is certainly better in Bangkok. One can go from a string quartet  soiree to a ripping good dance club very easily. Not going to happen in Hua Hin or Pattaya.  Pattaya tourism  targets lower end foreigners and regional convention/seminar clientele. It's pricing reflects that.

The silent killer now for Pattaya is the traffic congestion. It is not improving. The congestion has added a cost to staying in Bangkok and it has destroyed Patong.   Hua Hin is no better in high season.

i stayed in soi 70 in hua-hin. I dont need more then a bed and a balcony.

sukumvit soi 22..

the corner bars there ? I would say that's quite normal prices, but 60 baht I would worry about what they actually serve you in the drink. Anyway, copy liquor is everywhere in Thailand, so there is no guarantee. In Bangkok there is many nice places who have happy hour or hours, i

Back to Jomtien and I am happy! Fresh air (or fresher), less noise and beautiful beach front to walk.

I am in heaven, again.

I miss many gals I met in and around On Nut and Bangna. I hope they come to visit.

I found bus stops along the route from Ekkamai. They seemed to think "no problem" to take a bus.

Try that in the ol' USA! They'd spit on you.

What a bunch of nonsense.

No I don't believe Bangkok is cheaper than Jomtien not even close.

Depends on where the Op is staying.

The real question is, when you go out of expat areas what do you do there? You have no reason to be living there.

You can get things cheaper, but if you don't fit in or have expat activities it does not work out. Most Thai's are living in those cheap areas because they are working during the day, flopping in at night, or going to school. If you're a single guy, it's not the right location.

US pop 350 milj, EU 750 milj. I was alone in those countries so no difference among 75 milj.

Besides, I was not alone - plenty of nice ladies around. Their Google app had to work his S off...

I love to manage in new situations, like:

One day I was at Big-C. I bought box of Danish cookies and paid by 1000 B. I saw receipt and change coming out of the machine, young guy gave them to me, took both and walked to the hotel.

Only then counted money and 500 B was missing!

WTF - "I got cheated!"

I took my camera (has been a good trick to start taking pics and speed up disputes in past) and walked back to the Big-C. Went to the Customer Service, controlling my anger and voice well, and told to two young girls what happened. At that point I was 100% sure the boy cheated me.

"Well, don't worry - we go to check the dispenser. Maybe your money still is there!" one of the nice gals said calmly.

Sure enough - she comes back and hands 500 B cash to me!

I was full  happiness. it wasn't much money but the principal NOT to get cheated means a lot to me.

I also felt a little shame how easily I thought they cheated me - quite understandable.

She explained; The boy was new and set limit to give cash back was set at 500 B per transaction. I got only 261 B back. The boy either didn't know or forgot.

So, an other proof to love Thailand - very honest people! I've seen that before BUT also how greedy Thais can be.

Oh, forgot the point: All this without common language! Neither gal spoke any English. All via translations app.

I've had similar adventures in may countries and will have more. Exciting.

Sounds like you are moving around and not living there long term. There's a big difference!

No old retirees in on nut or where i live.

The reason were here is because we are working and there is a big digital presence here.

There is nothing noticeably cheaper around here compared to jomtien. Certainly not condos.
