That would be completely up to the Puerto Ricans to decide, and as we learn more about the fallout it seems most of them have a suggestion as to where you can put your 'legitimate claim'.

Yes, let’s let THEM decide.

I do understand each day as the election gets closer the tension and frustration of leftists increases also.  Our resident physics experts will be able to quote the specific law.  Been a number of years since dive school so I’m a little rusty.  Increase in heat increases pressure?  Or something similar.

Looks like inviting someone to an event, thinking that they are supportive of your presidential bid, does not mean that person can say whatever they want.

The problem is, though Trump didn't say the words, he has been tarred with the same brush.

Without a doubt it’s going be introduced again if Harris wins.  Let’s not forget reparations for those who were never slaves to be paid by those who never owned slaves.

She won’t dare talk about it now nor will it be brought up by the leftist MSM.

Don't you ever wonder why lawsuit-happy Leftists don't file suit for reparations?  They wouldn't win.

1. The plaintiff would have to prove lineage, which is nearly impossible due to the lack of records kept on slaves. Most documentation included only a first name, sex and age -- and that was in succession documents. Example: John - male - 43 years  How do I know? I've seen and researched the documents.

2. The plaintiff would have to prove damages. How would they prove that as a descendant of a slave, over 100 years removed, that they have personally suffered damages?

3. The slave owner is dead. Who will be the defendant responsible (who never owned a slave and didn't even know the ancestor) for their ancestor's ownership of slaves and the damages owed to the plaintiff?

4. Slavery was legal until 1865. How is someone (a descendant) held to account -- retroactively -- when slavery was legal? How can a descendant in the 21st century be held responsible for the LEGAL behavior of the ancestor in the 18th century and before?

There is no question that slavery was an immoral and destructive practice; but it has been outlawed for over 150 years.

Because it would be almost impossible to conquer ALL FOUR legal hurdles described above, a lawsuit would most likely fail spectacularly. It's much easier to play on white guilt and cowardly and/or complicit politicians to just hand over the money.

Pay no attention, it's just more of the pearl clutching which runs rampant in the MAGA community. The dog whistle is blown by Trump or some other genius and the howling begins.

It's like a lame circus act!😆

If Puerto Rico is so great, why are half of them in the USA?

Pristine beaches and pina coladas are fine for tourists but the money is better in the US mainland. Not investing in infrastructure has consequences.

Only in your mind of wishful thinking.

Were you there at MSG?   The happy, enthusiastic sold out venue where speakers of all nationalities voiced their support for Trump.

You witnessed the loading of teleprompters?

Stick with Harris’s rallies.  She’s been getting heckled a lot lately.

If it makes you feel better to believe that the Trump campaign didn't load the teleprompter with the comedian's joke about Puerto Rico, don't read the linked article:

Like the rest of the speakers who took the stage before Trump, Hinchcliffe’s remarks were pre-loaded into a teleprompter, indicating that they would likely have been vetted by the campaign in advance.

Trump's campaign closing with insults about Puerto Rico isn't really a great idea.

Someone could ask you, if the US is so great, why do you live in Thailand? But, that would be stupid.

They cut Tony Hinchcliffe's use of the c- word in the process but not the racist crap they knew their MAGA num-ties love so much.

I have no concerns at all with people supporting Trump if they believe he is the answer to America's problems, but why oh why must you people be so allergic to facts and the truth?

There is only one answer..., it is a cult

@G_Money just makes stuff up when reality is too depressing.

They are very sorry it didn't work out as planned and walked it back. Or tried to. What sounds like music to a tin ear is just noise to others.

'The joke could come back to haunt the Republicans in a key swing state that Democrats won by a narrow margin of 1.17% - about 82,000 votes - in 2020.

"The campaign just hurt itself, so much. It's crazy to me," said Ivonne Torres Miranda, a local resident who said she remains disillusioned by both candidates - Republican Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris - with just eight days to go in the campaign.

"Even if he [Mr Hinchcliffe ] was joking - you don't joke like that'.'

Yes- it's one of those white nationalist movements with Blacks, Latinos and Asians in it.

Very cunning.

The habitual poster you quoted also forgot that the comedian who actually made the joke is gay and not heterosexual.

Well the Leftist have always had the welfare recipients, illegal aliens, the homeless by choice and slackers in general.  Can’t say all the LBTGXYZ community follows them.  I’ve heard of the Log Cabin Republicans (Google).  Naturally they are ostracized.

Trump winning over so called uneducated working men.  That’s great.  Why should they have to pay for the education of leftist brain dead students on today’s liberal college campuses with Biden’s proposed plan to cancel student loans.  Most currently the privileged white students who speak no Arabic, never set foot in a ME country yet don Muslim head gear have protest for the terrorist organization Hamas.

For the terrorist organisation Hamas... or for the innocent Palestinian people being indiscriminately slaughtered by the thousands?

Why lie?

Why can't you make your case honestly?
