We all have different memories of Blair’s administration.

I recall a booming economy, it made me a lot of money for which I am grateful.

In the context of your remark yours seems to have been that it boomed due to immigration, but you now evade with 'We all have different memories of Blair’s administration.'

Don’t jump to conclusions.

It might have been a thinly veiled compliment.

On recollection it was.

Running a business is obviously no guarantee of virtue when it comes to paying taxes:

You are talking about criminals here as tax evasion is and continues to be a crime.   Let me school you by providing a link that gives more details:

Note that "sweet shops" and "takeaways" are the main culprits.   Are these the "business owners" you are referring to that do not pay tax?

I recall an illegal war followed by an economic crash of biblical proportions after originally inheriting an economy on the up.  Remind me how the PFI initiatives are working out for the NHS?  Actually no need I'll school you again by providing helpful link to the consequences of the Blair legacy:

NI contributions for employers up equals more operating costs and therefore less chance of a payrise, fewer jobs offered, product prices up.

Oh, and dont work hard and save your money in property as a pension plan, they will nick that off you with an increase capital gains.

Best thing to do is sit on your ass with your hand out.

That last is the second best thing to do.

The best thing to do is learn Afghani  , go to France , throw away your passport etc then come back in a rubber boat and claim asylum.

Here’s my statement:

1 hour ago, Chomper Higgot said:

You guessed right, I’ve never run a business.

I have however paid my taxes every single year since I first started work, which is more than can be said of many people who ‘run businesses’.

I have provided a link to substantiate my statement, and I agree people who evade taxes are criminals.

Do now do you agree when I assert many people who run businesses evade taxes?

It’s a simple yes or no answer.

Labour’s claim of a £22 billion “black hole” in the finances, meant to justify their tax measures, was revealed to be more fiction than fact, lacking support from the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR).

Seems like Labour were lying about a £22 Billion black hole .

Reason being that they could blame Tories for everything .

Shall we get back on topic and discuss the title, that Labour lied to their voters?

The OBR have confirmed what we already knew.  It was a lie.   A lie that has been repeated literally hundreds of times by Reeves and Starmer.    Tory PMs have resigned for a lot less than what these clowns are doing.   How are they allowed to lie to the public and lie to parliament without consequence?

I recall Parliament voting on that war and the Tories voting for it in higher proportion than Labour MPs

I also recall mass left wing demonstrations against that war.

The Global Economic Crisis was ( there is a clue in the name) a global event with global impacts.

You need to find a new link, that one does not substantiate your claim of a lie.

They voted for it as they were misled.

"Referring to the 2003 vote to invade Iraq, he said: "If you look just at the debate alone, on five different grounds the House was misled, three in terms of the weapons of mass destruction, one in terms of the UN votes were going, and one in terms of the threat, the risks."

Labour were overspending before the crash.   Had they not done so the UK would not have been so affected.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves implementing a substantial £40 billion tax hike—one of the most significant in recent history, despite concerns that it may dampen economic momentum.

In addition to this tax increase, Reeves is taking on significant borrowing, which she once promised to avoid in favor of “balancing the books.” The funds are intended for expansive public spending projects, a move that will undoubtedly drive inflation, keep interest rates high, and place additional financial burdens on future generations.

   So, Tax and spend .

Same as usual from Labour

Pouring money into a broken NHS without any serious attempt to scrutinize where all the leaks are is just money down the drain IMO.

Hasn't worked until now and so a different result can't be expected.

I am not sure that the NHS has its priorities right but now it will be getting more funding for such questionable spending.

NHS to roll out six new specialist gender centres for children and young people

NHS England will roll out up to six new specialist regional centres by 2026 to provide tailored gender services for children and young people, based on recommendations in the Cass Review.

I’m pleased to learn you accept that ‘information available at the time’ is a consideration of ‘decision/statements/votes’ made at that time.

I’m also pleased to learn that ‘misleading the house’ is also a matter that troubles you.

That’s what Governments do with taxes.

Well, OK, some governments tax and hand the money to corporations and the hyper wealthy, but I digress.

And a government, who are supposed to represent the working class rob their pensioners of benefits, given to them by a Party who is generally assumed to represent the well off, strange that, eh....:coffee1:

Some Governments tax less and spend less .

This Labour Government will be taxing,  borrowing and spending .

Future generations can balance the books
