My head is now spinning from all the recent changes around here. Still I approve.

Recommended Posts

Dear Folks,

I approve of the new TV Look.

However, I would like to know....

How can I change the background from BRIGHT WHITE to....

A darker shade of pale.....?

I like the new look, even though most of us, and I included, are almost too old for change...

NICE!

Best regards,

Gamma

Note: Darker Pale, please....but just my own preference.

Do you approve of the 'new' name?

To go to Dark Mode, click on the Moon at the top of the screen.

THANK YOU....!!!!!

I will try it.

Much appreciated.

I do not normally enjoy getting such a BLAST from my screen as I do with this new look.

Still.

I am NOT making ANY suggestions for changing what is now the status quo...mind you!!!!

Tried this.

Although this feature does not seem to be working on my DESKTOP computer, I am sure this feature will be available, in due course.

Clicked 10 times...

Still getting BLASTED by this whiteness.

Might as was well go outside and "stand in the noonday sun".

Actally, it is NOT working. I have changed my background to dark grey, but the Moon is inoperative. Under the Customize menu, Dark Mode does nothing, the others can be moved to Green, but do not seem to do anything except the background.

Ask Charlie.

No need, I think.

Just be patient, I think.

As long as they don't restrict the number of new topics one can start per day or per week, you'll be OK.

No worries.

It's easier to write fewer Topics.

However, I think it would be very difficult to write more.

Yes no worries -- if your topics didn't populate the sidebar, I would know you exist.

If you were to ZOOM your screen in CHROME, then you would not even see the sidebar.

Also, on my screen, the site actually looks BEST when I zoom to 125%

By the way, just to be honest:

With all the changes around here, during the past months, this site has NEVER been snappier.

a.  Super Fast, when posting a Topic, compared to what it once was.

b. Most importantly, submitted comments, or half-completed comments are RARELY lost, if ever lost.

These two improvements are pretty much paramount, one might opine.

I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes...

Ever been to the GREEN DOOR in Taipei?

Sadly, those days are over now...for the Formosans.

Seems the gov there has gentrified the place.

There are different settings in Windows and there are also some apps you can download for free to adjust the brightness of your screen.

With all of the "improvement" of course they have forgotten about the arrow again.

Nope.  But I did go to a back-alley Japanese bar in Yokohama in the 1980s where it alley ended at a red door.  My friends an I went in.  The Japanese wait-staff tried to shoo us out as we were gaijin 外人, but I spoke some Japanese at the time and convinced them to let us stay as long as there were no other Japanese customers.  God - a sake hangover is terrible. Great fun though from a cultural point-of-view.

Linux Rocks.

Actually, from my experience, there is almost ZERO excuse to not be on Linux, these days.

I changed my computers over to Linux recently.

I have one small notebook that still has Windows loaded.

I never use it.

One thing, though....as has been mentioned elsewhere....

The scanner software from Canon seems to not work on Linux...

So then, you gotta pay money for a premium software application, which works OK.

Therefore, I just save the notebook for scanning.....

Otherwise, Linux works far better than Windows, for almost everything.

NOT DEBATING HERE...by the way....!

If anyone likes Windows, then just keep on keeping on....

LINUX:  Just a suggestion for those, such as the likes of me, who might prefer a better personal-computer experience.

It "UPS to you", as they say, in Thailand.
