Of course this is the expats that live here and not tourists, as Thai women all hear through the grapevine how tourists are, and most aren't worth their time because they are butterflies. Women , no matter how smart, many times aren't that smart about men and how they are. They fall for bull<deleted> time after time, hoping the next one will stay, and when they don't, their trust level decreases until many think all men are trash, not realizing they just made bad choices. This is why you see so many hot women with men who don't fit them. Thai men know how to play their women, especially the younger ones. If you stay away from strip clubs, you might not think you and others are all at some level of loserdom. Going there doesn't make you a loser. They're there for a reason, and for certain types of people.

Essentially, Thai women are brought up this way.  Thailand is not a nice place for women, and they are raised to believe that they deserve to be treated badly, while they support their loser partners, who get drunk or go out and cheat.  Women literally think that it is their responsibility to take care of their men (along with their family).

 

The sad part is that it's generally limited to Thai men.  Also, as with women like this in the West, the chance of them actually waking up to it and appreciating a guy that treats them well is low.

What has changed? It's the way it has always been.Some unattractive guys or girls are genuinely nice people and alot of fun.

In university, one of our hang crew was always spending too much.  There were times when we would go out, and he played the room, letting whomever was around to buy him drinks. He had it down to an art, targeting the lonely mediocre looking girls. The opportunity to hang out with a good looking guy even for a bit was worth it for them. He was so good that he good identify  multiple marks , swoop in and sometimes dangle 2-3 on  a busy night.  When he was not scoring with the ladies, he was open to accepting drinks from men. The way some nights ended though could be cruel. There would sometimes someone hovering near the exit waiting to see if they could hook up. Wasn't going to happen. No matter how much of a rogue he was, he was faithful to his girlfriend.

I grew out of the shallowness of expecting love, sincerity or romance from go go girls a very long time ago. It's a fantasy dreamworld.

 

I was in that industry in Pattaya many moons ago. 

 

What I can say is my maids for the hotel were paid twice monthly, and I can guarantee you that on those two days, there would be a number of motorbikes outside coming to collect their wives/girlfriends from work.

 

Regarding somebody's comment above about Thai loser males collect go go bar girls at 4am, that used to be normal as well, as the men were coming to relieve the women of any cash they had earned that night.

 

In the very early days, women were more than happy to spend every waking hour with you, mainly to ensure a rival didn't get their hands on you. With the tourist boom, and foreigners plentiful, that has become a thing of the past.

 

In recent times, how many times have you heard the girl say they can't stay all night, and want ' silly money ' if they do. That never used to be the case.

 

To me, the attitude displayed by the Thai men, few of whom worked, was all very mercenary.

 

These women tolerated and accepted it.

 

The men were the bottom end of the barrel, not working, unkempt and many tattooed up, but these seemed to be the limit of interest these girls could attract in Thai males.

 

 I myself have witnessed middle class Thai men talking with these girls, and one thing they don't give them in any shape or form, is........... respect.

 

There is plenty of male schoolboy, giggly, drunk conversation from this class of Thai male with these girls, but nothing meaningful takes place.

Jealousy is unbecoming.  There's plenty of females to go around.  But the truth is charm and personality goes a long way in Thailand.  Thai girls love a witty guy....in the Thai language of course.  I've seen many charming Thai guys who can literally talk the panties off of the hottest girls.  So this myth that Thai girls are only about money is not entirely accurate.  Well, most of the Thai girls who are after farangs may be about money.  But the other 90%+ of Thai girls prefer a guy with some personality (again, in the Thai language).

I don't think there's a comparison at all other than the obvious.

 

In US I'd only been in one strip club in my life and that was tagging along with my business buddies night out crawl. There's nothing really lighthearted about strip clubs in States. They are really expensive. I'm not at all attracted to stripper types in general but especially in US

 

Happened to know something about US club because I lived in a shared house decades ago. It started off with a bunch of students which I was one and ended up when I left was a bunch of strippers. One of them had gonorrhea in her eye or something. They were nothing but drama and banging around late at night high as kites every night

I think you misunderstood the "unemployment"-situation. Being "unemployed" means that one has enough funds not to work and values time spending money, which seems like unlimited. The latter is like a super-magnet for gorgeous Thai-chicks...

Being shirtless or proper dressed like a real billionaire – which mean relaxed, but appropriate clothes – doesn't matter in Land of Smiles. It's the pile of 1000-baht-notes filling your breast pocket – or whereever you keep them visible enought for the chicks if you are shirtless – that matters...😉
