   Its a problem for landlords in the U.K as well .

When disagreeable unpleasant tenants move into a house , other potential tenants refrain from moving into the area and landlords have to reduce the rent for their properties  , which attracts other disagreeable tenants , before you know it, you have fridges and sofas in the front garden and the Police visiting on a weekly basis

The trouble is, as house prices and the cost of maintenance increase, so do landlords costs. So there comes a point at which rents also need to increase or it is not viable. 

 

But then I presume you'd also support the government buying these houses and controlling it all themselves, like a communist state?

Unfortunately that also applies when you don't drop the rent.

 

I recently had to evict a tenant who was causing the police to turn up a few times a month for beating up his Ukranian girlfriend. 

 

Another tenant had a St Bernard jump out of the second storey bedroom window (through the closed glass window) and land in the front garden. 

 

Very difficult to find decent tenants in the UK now. They are so protected by the law that they feel they can do what they want, trash your property, be antisocial etc. and the courts generally side with them.
