A Bangkok-bound intercity bus carrying 47 passengers collided with a truck carrying rice, on a winding section of road between Song and Ngao districts. The incident occurred on November 5, at kilometre markers 30-31, near Ban Wang Din in Moo 9, Ban Klang Subdistrict, Song District, Phrae Province.

The bus, with registration number from Bangkok, lost control on a curve and clipped the trailer truck, registration number from Chainat. The bus overturned onto its side and was left resting on the roadside verge after falling over the guardrails and very close to plunging into a deep wooded ravine.

The Song District Chief, Mr. Supachai Boonthip, and Police Colonel Bamrung Nomsearian from Song Police Station, immediately coordinated with rescue teams to respond to the scene. Emergency personnel secured the bus using ropes to prevent any possible chance of it slipping into the ravine, then worked to extract four passengers who were trapped inside the overturned bus.

The crash site is a three-lane, well-paved asphalt road with no potholes, though road conditions were damp from light rain at the time. Eight sections of the guardrail were damaged in the accident.

The collision was first reported at approximately 05:50  by Song Police Station and total of 45 passengers sustained various injuries and were quickly transported to local hospitals for medical treatment. The preliminary report indicated the 45 injuries were categorised by severity, with one in a critical condition, 17 with moderate injuries and 27 with minor injuries.

Emergency teams from Song Ruam Jai Association, Luniget Rescue, and the Phetkasem Phrae Foundation were involved in the rescue efforts.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash, and will interview the drivers and passengers, when possible.
