I argued that , told them if they were going to change something that has been acceptable for the last umpteen years.....

That's crazy.

So what's the plan now.

All I can think of is a border bounce without reentry permit, enter visa exempt and start over.

Clearly you are not married to a Thai.

You have another plan?

Talk about being screwed over.

That's just ridiculous stance from immigration.

In hindsight applying earlier would have been best. However that comment not helping now.

Damn

I did apply a little bit earlier , so I will only be 2 or 3 days past my expiry date , which they said if I was willing to pay a 500 baht a day fine , they will accept it....Rather decent of him wasn't it , barsteward.

That was my other suggestion.

It's more common than some would imagine that immigration in various situations "accept" you go into overstay to deal with issue as per your current situation.

They will still place the overstay stamp in pp, however this would be best option.

Good luck

Go onto the Bkk Bank APP, at the bottom right is More Services, Request Account Statement, Account, Time Period, Language, Submit.

The Statement will be emailed to your registered account with an Attachment which is locked until you put your DoB in, ddmmyyyy, and it should take less than an hour. Print it out, and show the IO that it came directly from Bkk Bank. He may accept it.

What  is the bank charge for that?

I have just been knocked back over the Passbook copy etc. Ratchaburi's new boss insists that the years bank statement is used.

As i am in Bkk Bank that causes problems, as the 1 year statement takes 7 or 8 days.

Is there anybody using a friendly bank that will give you a years statement on the spot ?

When I was on a Type-O I switched from Bangkok Bank to Krungsri, where Krungsri would issue the paperwork on the spot.  To avoid complications, I had the 800k seasoned in Krungsri for a year prior to switching from Bangkok Bank to Krungsri, ... but I suspect it must be possible to switch without doing such (for someone who does not have the extra funds).

There are good things about Bangkok Bank, but for one who lives in Phuket, issuing the paperwork quickly (needed for proof of the 800K THB in one's Bangkok bank account) is not one of their good things. They (Bangkok Bank) are slow in doing that.

Bangkok bank mobile app lets you download a 1 year statement instantly.

Found this out when immigration officer at Map Ta Phut requested it and BKK Bank said will take 7 days.

Went back to immigration and the lady showed me how to download a statement , emailed it to her and she printed it off for me.

So first hand account of immigration accepting a downloaded statement.

Was this 12 month statement for annual extension?

Can't see many other offices accepting that.

Use your BKK bank app on your phone to request the statements you need. (You cannot do it from your computer). You'll get the PDF from the bank on your computer via email. You can then print it out, IO here said I can use it if BKK bank puts their stamp on. The bank has no problem doing that as long as it's yours.

I do not imagine that download from banking app would be acceptable regardless of type of account.

Thread discussing app statement download acceptable to immigration for extension.

Yes, for annual extension, she only wanted it for the months that had not transactions after looking through my bank book.

I have now set up a monthly 100b transfer into my account so there is movement every month.

Of course what she is looking for at my next extension will probably change, a bit frustrating but it is Thailand, easier to just smile and say ok then.

My point is that imo immigration should not accept some pages you download from bank app.

I had issue at CW using money in bank as I had some months of no activity.

They wanted bank statements issued by the bank with the bank stamp and teller signature.

Fortunately Kasikorn can provide that on the spot.

Thinking your experience is exception to the norm.

Well I'm glad the immigration officer who I dealt with did not have the same opinion as you.

She was the person that showed me how to do it so it was obviously from my account, sometimes common sense prevails, only sometimes....

Not really the point.

For annual extensions some folk using money in the bank or income method and are providing full 12 month bank statements as required by their immigration office.

Not print out from bank app.

Why is it ridiculous that an FD account would need to show a 12 month statement? (truly I don't see why they should not)

Possibly since myself and MANY others using FD account at CW and other immigration offices have never been asked for bank statements for FD account.

In my own situation ..I use two accounts. FD 400k and savings 400k+

Even when immigration (CW) started to require bank statement for savings account they did not require same for the FD account.

Bank book photocopies were sufficient.

This thread provides so much confusion as so far all of the following have been stated as required for 12 month extension:

(1) You must have bank statement issued by the bank

(2) You may be able to use statement downloaded by bank app

(3) You can use statement downloaded from bank app if you get bank to sign/stamp it

(4) You don't need statement for fixed deposit accounts, only savings accounts

(5) You don't need bank statement, copy of passbook is fine

For me, passbook copies was accepted without a bank statement (Jomtien).

Just did a bank method retirement extension at Jomtien.

Last year I did provide a 12 month statement and also passbook copy.

This year I realized that wasn't required IF your passbook shows every single transaction (without any COMPOSITE transactions).

Indeed just the passbook copy accepted.

Also to note, in the last two years Jomtien has DEMANDED to see the original passbook, so do bring it.

Last year I didn't have because they never demanded it before, but I got lucky because I begged/pleaded my case that it was the first time they ever asked (which was true).

Not only consolidated transactions along with any month with no activity.

Don't understand requirement for original bank book. Just immigration game.

First up don't understand your confusion.

Some immigration offices require bank statements some accept photocopies of bank book pages.

Your recent experience was for first 12 month extension so immigration only interested in two months using money in bank method.

As for statements from downloaded bank app.

There are two reports in this thread.

One then clarified that io only wanted month statement when there was no activity.

Jomitien is one office.

I suggest folk be aware of what their local office requires.

If indeed it's bank statement then obtain that from your bank rather than downloads

Thanks for confirming Jomtien don't require bank statements for ongoing 12 month extensions. As for original Passbook, I also needed to show it and he checked it against the photocopies. I needed my passbook to get the bank letter that day so I had it with me anyway.
