I'm thinking about staying at the Nova Lodge Hotel. I have a girlfriend, so I'm not worried if it is guest friendly or not. Any reviews? I searched the forum, but I couldn't find any. Thanks

Check out asiarooms.com and you will find reviews for nova lodge.

Nova has been my home for number of years - yes it is showing its age

- it is after all pattaya's first hotel from way back in the 60s.

As some of the reviewers point out some of the rooms are a little tatty,

but this is largely because major renovation has been held up by ongoing

discussions on renewing the lease on the land on which the property stands.

Otherwise it is a great location for the beach - notwithstanding the death leap

across Beach Road - and has one of the biggest swimming pools in pattaya,

which tends to get infested with the kraut creature early in the day, but is

perfect for a late afternoon sundowner.

Note that asiarooms got a rate of 896bht thru to Oct on standard rooms, but

would suggest a superior room which have been refurbished to a reasonable

standard - best to book a standard with asiarooms and then negotiate an upgrade

when you check in -works out cheaper.

I stayed there a couple of years ago. A bit dated but rooms are comfortable, nice swimming pool and great location in mid Pattaya.

Same experience - a bit worn and dated. But comfortable and the linens were in good shape. Although my room during busy season faced the street and it was noisy until the bars accross the street closed. The courtyard side seemed very quiet.

Breakfast was not bad but the service was hit and miss. Early on service was generally good, but later on once more people woke up it was hard getting anyone to bring or refill coffee. It wasn't even easy to get your own which I don't mind doing. Had a little too much farang food which I don't prefer at breakfast, but gets the job done.

On the same block toward the 2nd road there is a shopping center with a grocery store (and bowling alley) so you can stock up on snacks. Internet shop also on site, but walk inland 2 or 3 blocks and there's a 24 hour place for half the price or less.
