Amsterdam police reported on Friday that five individuals were hospitalized and 62 people were detained. The events unfolded after a soccer match, with rioters actively seeking out Israeli fans in what authorities described as systematic attacks. Amsterdam police took to social media platform X, announcing that a major investigation into multiple violent incidents was underway. To prevent further disturbances, extra police will be stationed in the city, and additional security measures will be put in place around Jewish institutions.

Amsterdam, a city with a notable Jewish community, is known as the home of World War II diarist Anne Frank, who hid from the Nazis there. Local authorities emphasized the gravity of the attacks, releasing a joint statement by the city’s police, prosecution office, and municipality. The statement declared, “The night was very turbulent with several incidents of violence aimed at Maccabi supporters… This outburst of violence toward Israeli supporters is unacceptable and cannot be defended in any way. There is no excuse for the antisemitic behavior exhibited last night.”

The violence prompted a strong response from Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof, who called the attacks “completely unacceptable.” He shared on X, “I followed reports of the violence with horror,” adding that he had spoken directly with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Schoof affirmed that those responsible would be “tracked down and prosecuted,” ensuring Netanyahu that measures were being taken to restore calm in the capital.

 

The violence also drew remarks from Netherlands’ King Willem-Alexander, who expressed profound disappointment and regret. He reportedly told Israel’s President Isaac Herzog that the attack brought back memories of “dark and grim times for the Jewish people,” referring to the country’s history during World War II. “We failed the Jewish community during World War II, and last night we failed again,” said the King, echoing Herzog’s demand for a clear condemnation of such actions.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock reacted with shock, calling the incident “awful and deeply shameful for us in Europe.” She stated on X, “The outbreak of such violence against Jews breaks all boundaries. There is no justification for this.” Baerbock emphasized that Jewish people must be able to feel secure in Europe, a sentiment shared by other international officials.

 

The United Nations also weighed in, with spokesperson Jeremy Laurence from the UN human rights office describing the reports as deeply troubling. He emphasized, “Nobody, nobody should be subjected to discrimination or violence on the basis of their national, religious, ethnic or other origin.” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen expressed similar sentiments, condemning the attacks as “unacceptable.” In her message on X, she stated, “Antisemitism has absolutely no place in Europe. And we are determined to fight all forms of hatred.”

   These were not football thugs/supporters though , they had no interest in the game . 

   It was a pro Palestinian group whose sole intention was to attack Jews/Israelis .

Your video shows Maccabi fans not Muslims attacking Israelis. Check the account of the video owner not the account you posted. You can even see the team colours on some of them. No Palestinian flags in hand either.
