I'm guessing he sees University students as priviliged little rich kids full of students rowing their boats down the river at the weekends, in which case I'm sure he would like to see them punished.

The politics of jealousy and class hatred. The politics of the left.

Oh Jonny, you never fail me. I bet my mate Malcolm 100 baht that a poster would play the "politics of envy" card.

BTW, we proud lefties aren't envious of the far right politics and blinkered supporters. We're effing angry!

You made a claim. Back it up. I will be more than happy to follow up with a link to my claim

I cannot provide a link which definitively confirms that fee paying schools are non essential. Can you prove that they are essential?

Also, about that human rights thing - exactly what human rights are being violated?

You sad a bad word , you are seriously angry.

Did you shout it when you wrote that bad word ?

Swearing means that you are serious about this issue

no of course you can't. You made a claim they are however. Now do some basic research on the excellent services of some private schools that provide special education for children that are not available via the state. Then see why your claim is utter rubbish.

As for the human rights, like I said I am more than happy to provide a link to that, but you need to come back to me on the above, you seem to think you can claim things and get away with it.

Why?

PS;  Who are the "we"?

Is the amount of money that the government does not collect if VAT is not levied on tuition more or less than the extra expenditure that would be required to educate all of this prep school's students in government schools?

So the state education sector will have to find another 100 places for the pupils displaced by the closure of this school.

They will also have to fund those places - I know the parents have already been paying through their taxes for an education which they have not, until now, been taking up.

Well thought through!

The State could build a new school nearby and employ all the teachers that used to work at the old school ?

That is just that school .

3000 former private school pupils have applied for state education since Labours announcement 2 months ago

So it costs about 15 Million Pounds to build a new school .

500 pupils per school and that will be 90 million Pound to build six more schools .

Would need about 150 teachers for the schools  , so six million Pound per year in salaries .

So, this will cost 100 million quid

Still, worth it to stiff some bloody Tories ...

I must admit that I am at a bit of a loss here. This is like trying to reason with a toddler, and unfortunately I am not particularly good at trying to argue with those for whom rational thinking is not a learned skill.

The state provides access to free primary and secondary education for each and every child in the UK. There is no need for parents to send their children to fee paying schools, therefore fee paying schools are not essential.

That some people can afford it, and choose to do so is a private matter and is entirely up to them. They are, quite rightly, free to go down that avenue. But their choice is, like most other services the public chooses to consume, vatable.

The above is not a claim. The above is fact. You may not like it but that does not give my point any less validity.

Ah so when you cannot back up claims you resort to childish personal; attacks. How mature of you.

Now do yourself a favour and check some facts.

What will VAT on private education mean for children with SEND

Last month, Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson admitted that the special needs system is “broken” and in “desperate need of a long-term renewal”. She was quoted saying: “We agree that far too often education does not meet the needs of children with SEND and too few EHCPs are delivered on time.”

The action will be brought around Article 14, the prohibition of discrimination, and Article 2 of the First Protocol, the right to education.

The ISC informed its members of its plans to take forward legal action, in an email to private schools on Thursday afternoon.

The group says its legal claimants will be parents who argue they cannot find an alternative education for their children in the state sector, and are likely to include families with children with special educational needs.

I have no idea about the veracity of your numbers, but if correct then thats is a lot of money into the economy, jobs in the construction industry, suppliers, skills and learning, plus new teachers and the knock on effect through the circular economy - that's a win win that will reverberate in communities across the country for years.

There already is a legal obligation on education authorities to provide appropriate learning opportunities for all children. If parents are not happy with the the provision on offer they are free to seek alternatives. That will not change. They remain free to seek alternative education resources.

The government has admitted there is not enough, is broken and relies on the private sector to provide it. :saai:

Where will that money come from ?

I know the answer .

Taxpayers will have to pay it .

The rich where paying for their own education in private schools , now poorer people will have to pay for that education through higher taxes

It's never been taxed anywhere in the world - pure spite on the part of the Labour government who hate the middle class.

In Finland for-profit schools are banned altogether.

Then the government should fix the problem, not give concessions to a tiny minority.

So let's not pretend for one second that special education kids up and down the country are being supported by fee paying schools.

Then you should do some research and stop making false claims:

A lack of state-funded places is forcing councils to spend hundreds of millions of pounds to send pupils to independent special schools

https://schoolsweek.co.uk/private-special-school-places-cost-480-million-per-year/

That money, instead of being spent of profit making entities, needs to be ploughed back into the public sector. Unfortunately the tories have wrecked so many institutions across the UK, education is only one of the sectors to which their greed and ignorance caused massive damage. But the answer to their failure is not to continue it.

You need to read the OP again. This is about the new VAT tax put in place by labour that has caused the parents to be unable to send their children to school..............lol

Not one of the top 100 independent schools in the UK is for-profit.They have no shareholders and any surplus is reinvested.Actually there is usually never more than a modes surplus if any.Schools like Eton and Winchester are well endowed from centuries back but the others have to rely on appeals.

Oxfordshire is replete with superb state schools.

The former students of this odor profit business will have plenty of very good state school options.

Oxfordshire is a big place, this school is in Banbury, what other gems are in travelling distance of this one that would be good options?
