UK Pensioners in Thailand Face New Scrutiny Over Pension Fraud

My Brit wife got 19 years of NI payments for having a child (you only got it for 1 kid).

So it would only be infertile non-working married women that had no state pension.

I think that is a highly dubious statement. Not having kids doesn't mean infertility. Non working married women do get a pension on the death of their husband, or so I believe. While he's alive, they will get the extra marriage allowance.

Marriage allowance went 10 years back.

So a married couple don't get any extra?

Folk are now treated as individuals, marriage allowance ended in 2010 for foreign wives, those who were getting a marriage allowance payments were stopped in 2020, they lost the payment...

As the topic regards pension and financial situations, I was referring to that with my comment. As I deal with decentralized finance, you might understand that better. So, the only one that is ill-informed here, seems to be you.

...and you don't even realise it...but then the one follows the other.

The proper way to resolve this is not to harass pensioners who are being defrauded of their pension increments by the British government. despite having made NIC contributions their entire working lives,  but to pay the increments to everyone regardless of residence. There is no justification for paying increments to someone in the Philippines but not to someone in Thailand or paying someone in the US but not someone in Canada.

My brother lives in the US and gets the full UK triple lock, having continued to pay in voluntarily after leaving the UK, and US social security and medicare.

We know all that, but no Party is interested in changing the ruling.....🤔

It's only frozen when you're found, or you've declared, to have moved abroad to live in a non-reciprocating country. Exactly what percentage of pensioners this represents I have no idea, and in any case, would not be very reliable for obvious reasons.

Never have a true estimate, but Id hazard a guess its the majority of ex pats are not frozen.  Of course could ask DWP as to any sanctions are visited on any "found" miscreants,...never answered, simply because nobody "found "out, or investigated

As to "declared, "up to individual, but its sure a sucker punch when you have self denied yourself for years increases in pension.

Means tested benefits are obv investigated for that £15000 in recipients bank, PP stamps for returning OA pensioners is a myth, as  to being "caught"

That´s not really true. It reacts on many of the same factors, but no one follows the other.

There is no fraud, there is no punishment, its only guidance and policy, not written in law, DWP regulations true, but that goes on to explain there are no punishments /sanctions.

Admit few sucker punches handed out

If you  hang about for a while I'm sure he will be along to explain, but then ,he will attempt to have it taken down

Well, I guess I'm screwed then. I've been living in Thailand for a year and receiving a hefty pension. Looks like I'll have to own up and tell them to keep their £12 increase next year! I suppose that means one less massage on the beach each month.

A bit more than £12. Isn't the increase next year around 4% so I make that around £500.

"The full new state pension will increase from £221.20 to £230.25 per week, which is an extra £470 per year." Just think what you can do with the £9.05.

So what. It is "our" money. If we choose to send "our" money to Thailand so be it. Where do yo think the immigrants as sending their money. Actually a pensioner who leaves the UK is freeing up a house and the Government can house an illegal immigrant in it and all of his or her family. And they aren't using the NHS. I really don't understand why what we spend our retirement money on is of any concern to anybody else.

There you go .... Brit doing his usual 'i can con the British tax payer because immigrants are doing it' routine. which is beyond parody now. That's the sole argument they ever have.

Most of these guys in Pattaya didn't even pay any national insurance contributions, so don't give me that one either.

The contributions are just a tax branded into some fancy name to make it appear like it's yours. The sooner these freebies are stopped from everyone leaving the UK the better. Once you leave the UK, it should be just that - not entitled to any more freebies, no more dual citizenship nonsense, etc

Funny now all these Philippine flights make sense. I used to sit their and wonder, why are all these cheap sods heading off to Phillipiines at least once a year. What's going on, it must be paradise out there.

When i went there it was complete crap, not worth the hassle.

Scammers the lot of them.

Total rubbish. OAP is dependent on contributions. Where does it say a UK pension can only be spent in the UK? Dual citizenship nonsense? Huh? What are you talking about? Freebies? A pension is not a freebie. Your gratuitous right wing nonsense is.

I didn't understand the dual nationality bit either. And as for most of these guys in Pattaya didn't pay any NICs. Well they would have any state pension if they made no NICs. To be getting a state pension they must have made NICs.

Is this you ?            its on record           Transam stated    .......                                                                                      "  I know of three people that were found out living in LOS claiming their pension as living in the UK. None went to court...Why, because the UK gov had proof which would be daft to contested in a court of law..If they lost the case it's big money.."

Transam stated                     " Two paid 1000 quid gov fine and had to pay back all the over payments. The third (my friend) did not have to pay a fine because he proved he had brain damage and his UK sister handled all his paperwork and she did not know of the Reciprocal Agreement thing regarding LOS, he still had to pay back I think 8 years over payment... "

Is this truthful ?  I know not.   You later admitted it was not State Pension,"something else" you state.  No £1000 fine  either.   DWP regulations state Non Sanctionable  for state pensioners, but obv uou (only you ) know difference

No 8 years,6 years max.  It was sickness benefit, sprinkling of Pension Credit, solid hogwash, attempting to make out it was state Pension

Jealousy/spite/envy on the hoof

He's not been along then to reply to this, perhaps he's had a bit of selective memory loss, to be a liar you need a good memory, seems he has neither, just a Billy Bullsh!tter, he regularly gets put in his place on here, and replies with silly little emojis.
