In my world, there's actually only "3", as you really need to add 'BI', and that covers everything.  Or med terms, hetero , homo & bisexual.   Call it what you want, but they all come down to one of those 3.

That's why I state ... open ended, and think AI gets it right.  Simply bisexual but adds 'all' genders, which there really are only 2.  Or 3 if adding pan or bisexual.  Again, all comes down to the original 3; straight, gay, bi.   Call it what you want, but it's always going to only be 3 'preferences'.

 

There's male & females.  If you enjoy both, gives you the option to call yourself a 3rd gender, but your 'sex' is either 'male' or 'female'.   Gender is not a sex, it's a preference, nothing more, nothing less.

 

You like chocolate, you like peanut butter.  You like chocolate peanut butter cups, then fine, they are still only chocolate & peanut butter.

If someone was to state to me their gender, and don't know how that would come up in a conversation, but if prefers to be called something other than male, female, he, she, him, or her, then what's you name ?   I'll go with that, and if not good enough, then F'off
