Well, yes, a few times, moved on when things were not, weeeell, perfect...😉

Those of us that have been married, know that every time was great, but when the honeymoon period is over, and the years rack up, things can go a bit pear shaped.

When you actually make the plunge, get away from the bar stools, you may find out......😉

I can’t say blame them.
I hope they all founded happiness and someone better.

It is what I believe.
Millions of others agree with me.
Probably a strange concept for someone who married a single mother.

I did, you are mistaken.......:clap2:.....But then, that sort of comment is all you've got, probably being a single bloke watching sheep all day........😂

It's transactional, they provide certain services for a nice house, lifestyle allowance etc in 99% of cases.

Can't understand why anyone thinks anything different, just the way it is.

It's very, very rarely about love but rather money.

My choices in home country at the age I got married were solo mothers or grannies.

I chose to marry a Thai 20 years younger than myself that I liked to see when I woke up in the morning, as not a wrinkly old bag with stretch marks and brats that annoyed me.

The only mistake I made was marrying the wrong 20 years younger than myself Thai woman.

Well as far as I can tell, all young women are 'wrong' ones if they can marry an old fart for money.

I find it funny these old blokes seemed to have lost their dignity and openly admit they have married a prostitute, I find it so funny as do normal Thai people as they point out to each other and snigger at the old fart walking down the street with a prostitute old enough to be his granddaughter.

Pooying just means woman.

The term is "Pooying Bar", you missed part of what I wrote.

So, you get ten points for getting one of the words translated, now try both words together and then reverse the two words and you will have miraculously completed the Thai name for a prostitute in English.

Oh I get it. Bar Girl. Wow, never thought of that. I thought the technical English term was "hostess". And I didn't get it translated. Pooying/poochay. Maybe the first 2 words of Thai you learn. Can you read them in Thai though? And I never heard any Thai person use that description. Sopenni I used once when arguing in the Beer Keller on Sukhumvit Soi 7 I think it was, with freelancers who insisted they weren't on the game even though charging for it. Hookers, I guess we'd call them. They were extremely pissed at my use of the word too.

I've only ever heard 'gar-lee' spoken out loud.

Sopenni is the polite word, or Khun So.

If you really want to piss them off called them Gurry.

Most Thai people don't seen to care, nobody seemed bothered about the 59yo Thai guy and the 23yo Thai nurse.

My 63yo Thai cycling pal (retired schoolteacher) had a 22yo girl in tow for ages.

That is the worst, so bad it doesn’t even appear in the dictionary.

Hi..12 years working in Thailand (been there, done that...witnessed this & that...). The truth is, only a very very tiny fraction of these bar girls/prostitutes get lucky enough to get to marry a "customer". Why would they do that? oh dear...Money + money + money again..Not to end up like the greatest majority who don't end up with a customer  (aka, worn-out and rotten to the core and turning  from a "Mogwai" to a "Gremlin" after a few years of that  lifestyle, where years count triple...Harsh, but that's what it is.). Now with regards to those customers who marry them, 99% of the times these poor fools end up in the dumpster. Milked like a cow plugged to a mechanical milking machine : BDS (broke, depressed, suicidal). No fairy tale in here. Cheers

I'm convinced it was nothing to do with the money and support JUST love right?  she loved going to bed with her father lol. Nothing wrong with it but at least we should be honest.

I'm not convinced women ever love men, they just go for the best deal they can get and maybe bang the pool boy on the side.

My wife says I'm the best dad she ever had.

Well I'd suppose most here have had some failed marriage, and I'm one.

Now mine wasn't a bar girl failure but an expat office romance. Not exactly honorable I will admit, but we're all human and fallible.

Now my wife's cousin was a bar girl did end up with a Swedish guy.

I think it is love, but she also just wanted to get outta the game.

Now they just look like all of us, middle aged couple living their life, and just forget the past

Because their customers go after the low hanging fruit.  And they can control the foreigners into losing their hard earned retirement funds.

I think you have misunderstood the thread.

it is not why you married a Thai prostitute.

It is why she married you.

Can you ask her and get back to us?

I didn't misunderstand your thread at all.

No need to get back to you on why my wife married me.

Keep going on your path of solitude, all and good, you just might spare any woman, be it a "Thai prostitute" or other, of any future grief with your insecurities.

At least you have acknowledged that occasionally it's about love. 😀

I think marrying a man is more common than marrying a hooker.

I won’t be doing either.

If I was going to pay I think it would be better to turn them over often, every week or so.
Especially as they age.

Each to their own.
