A Swedish tourist sparked a rescue mission at a Thailand ferry after he threw his bag into the sea and jumped in after it. The incident occurred on November 19, 2024, near Koh Chang.

Lars Emil Tobias Sodergren, a 28-year-old tourist from Sweden, was reportedly seen throwing his bag overboard before he plunged into the sea. The ferry crew reacted quickly, using a life ring to bring him back aboard after turning the ship around.

Sodergren was rescued in a weakened state and had difficulty breathing. He was promptly taken to Laem Ngop Hospital by a team of rescue volunteers from Sawang Boonchuay Dharma. The rescuers stated that his condition was critical during the vehicle journey, so extensive cleaning was required afterward.

Medical staff at the hospital have since confirmed that Sodergren’s condition has improved. However, the reasons behind the incident are currently under investigation by the authorities.

Seemingly a sad attempt at suicide.

Without any insight as to cause or reason why is this a "news" item other than voyeurism ?

And before any respond to my comment  stop at least long enough to consider all possibilities before launching into the usual speculative bs  !

"Seemingly a sad attempt at suicide." I'd call that speculative bs.

Why take his backpack with him? Little need for luggage in the afterlife 😷
