A crash occurred on November 20, when a pickup truck crashed into the rear of a trailer carrying a combine harvester, which had been parked on the roadside without rear lights. The driver of the pickup truck was killed instantly at the scene.

The incident took place at approximately 18:30 on the road between Ban Mueang Bua and Ban Samran in Mueang Bua Subdistrict, Kaset Wisai District, Roi Et Province. Police Lieutenant Wirayut Suwannsri, a deputy investigator at Kaset Wisai Police Station, responded to the scene along with medical personnel from Kaset Wisai Hospital and the Asoka Rescue Unit.

At the scene, officials found a red Toyota pickup truck (license plate from Roi Et) that had collided with the rear of a white 10-wheel Mitsubishi trailer (license plate from Roi Et). The front of the pickup truck was severely damaged.

The driver of the pickup truck, identified as Mr. Kasem 63, a resident of Ban Mueang Bua Village, was pronounced dead at the scene. He sustained a fractured neck and a severe forehead injury.

Initial investigations revealed that the trailer driver, Mr. Santi 54, also a resident of Ban Mueang Bua, had parked the trailer on the roadside near a rice field where a combine harvester was being used. However, the trailer’s rear lights were not on.

Mr. Kasem, who was on his way to collect rice from the ongoing harvest, likely did not notice the parked trailer in time, resulting in the fatal collision.

Police continue to investigate the incident to determine if further action is required.

Lack of forethought and consideration for others often has consequences.
