The Decline of Free Speech: How the UK Became a Third-Class Nation

Recommended Posts

Is it free speech when people are yelling out mis information, and out right lies

about the subject they are talking about?  Living in this new woke world, i am curious

about this aspect of people speaking in public, and lying.

There should be a lot of hate about illegal immigrants costing 8 million a day putting a great strain on health services, housing and infrastructure. UK cannot keep on taking in up to a million a year, it's sustainable and for the past 20 years voters have said they wanted less immigration, and it was always promised!

8 million a day.

That is nothing in the big picture really. I thought it would behave been more.

8 million per day on health, housing and infrastructure will not make much difference to daily lives.

You are all working yourselves up over almost nothing.

Poor losers who have failed in life will always look to blame someone else for their bad decisions.

I doubt many of the illegal immigrants are buying up houses.

Please explain how you can be polite to them in the UK while you say you live here in LOS?

I was in the UK earlier this year.
They just don’t bother me in the slightest.

If immigrants bother you so much shouldn’t you leave Thailand?

Where have I made any comment regarding immigrants/immigration policy regarding any nation?

I can assure you I have not as the subject is of no interest to me.  I was discussing the woke/cycle lane agenda!

no that will be done by the legal ones,  who will then rent them out to the government , who will use them to house illegals

It depends on whether the lies promote the "narrative" or not     the real truth is no longer up for discussion or of any real importance. its generally considered best avoided.     Take the black on black knife crime statistics for example

They won't do in the upmarket places you frequent,  did you try visiting east lancashire by any chance?   or Luton ?

Didn't someone get arrested for calling a police horse gay?

That is correct, but I believe he was released, nevertheless he was arrested!

Connolly's tweet with expletives deleted is shown below. You think that freedom of speech should extend to allowing the second phrase I e. " set fire ... I care" of that sentence?

"Mass deportation now, set fire to all the f****** hotels full of the b******* for all I care... "

That bit in bold (for all I care) is the equivalent to the following:

"I am indifferent to someone setting fire to hotels full of immigrants".

This is not a pleasant thing to say.  But it is not an illegal thing to say.  Even then there is no evidence of any causal link between what she said and actions people took, nor is it possible to prove if anyone who participated in doing so even read her post.  She deleted it and apologized for it.   The correct "punishment" for this kind of post is an apology (which she gave) and an appropriate cool off ban from the social media platform she posted it on.   The incorrect punishment is 31 months in jail, especially since this was her very first offense of any type.

Had she been a serial offender and committed the exact same offense she would have known better than to plead guilty and she would never have been convicted of inciting violence from that post by a jury.  The way they treated these people by remanding them in custody (for tweets/memes) and no doubt promising them reduced sentences if they plead guilty is shameful.  Those who support this should be ashamed of themselves.

So she didn’t say it.

She wrote in on Facebook.

Have you got an example of someone being jailed for saying something?

Good grief.  I would if the only person I have knowledge of for inciting violence in public (since Starmer's tyrannical reign) wasn't a Labour councillor who demanded people slit the throats of right leaning people.   I can only say (with some confidence) that if that had been Tommy Robinson saying the exact same words about Muslims he would be in jail right now.  Oh wait, he is in jail right now... for saying something.

Luton has always been a s41thole where people complain a lot. Long before any immigrants showed up.

Tate brothers, Tommy Robinson.

I feel sorry for the poor immigrants who ended up there who have probably made it a lot better than it was before.

Where he belongs.

Low life trouble maker.
Luckily Thailand doesn’t have anyone like him targeting us.

Anutin said “damned Caucasians” when they refused to wear free masks during a pandemic and some people were in a tizz about that.

Robinson is a lying scumbag. He is in jail for lying. He is cute though, so will enjoy prison. Or the prison will enjoy him.

The point is a whole lot of people all upset over a non event.

The UK is not a “third class nation”

Right, so he is in jail for something he said.   So you agree you cannot say whatever you want in the UK then contrary to what you posted earlier?

That's because politicians, serious politcians of either colour, realize that stopping immigration, even illegal immigration, is the faster-track to economic decline and societal suicide.

They also lie to their teeth.

It is not a jailable offense to be an idiot and a liar as Starmer/Lammy/Reeves et all are proving on a daily basis by retaining their freedoms.

Yet Ricky Jones walks among us despite publicly urging people to slit the throats of political opponents.

2 tier justice is never a good look Ray. You should stop gaslighting and just admit it.

Calm it Janet.

Ricky Jones has been arrested and charged, just like Connoly. His Labour party membership has also been suspended.

He will have his day in court in January, just like Connoly had hers.

My second home is in east Lancs. I am there 3 to 5 times a year. The ethnicity and faith of the majority of the local, UK-born citizens living there doesn't bother me or impact my quality of life there. Nor does it rent huge space in the head of my mate who worked there most of his life and has now retired. Or his dad who worked down the mines.

When we get tired of the weekend boutique gastropub set in their Audi SUV's and Porsche's invading our locals, we go for a reality check now and again and visit some of the less-salubrious pubs and rub shoulders at the spitoon with the welfare spongers, pikeys and other marginalized types.

My mate, and his dad, who worked damn hard "all their lives" have got decent pensions. They can afford at least two overseas holidays a year.

For those who imagine UK lacks free speech these days, remember the level of hate speech and dangerous misinformation being spouted by extremists online these days. Also remember how much worse it is for free speech in China, Russia. Despite its faults, UK is preferable to most countries,
