Welcome back Will, I notice it took you more than 2 weeks to stop crying because your predictions about Trump being the loser of this election turned out to be wrong

Perhaps Alison Moyet was singing just for him.

I'm not saying I like the idea nor perhaps does PE Trump but no doubt he wants to keep an eye on what is going on to avoid surprises. No doubt the IT crowd feel the same same about him...hence I used the word 'need'. A 'world communication' system was almost inevitbale because such ideas were around in the 1930/1940's. Information Theory, IT, was born when Claud Shanon, Alan Turing and others were busy laying the groundwork for what we have today. I too grew up in an era where there wasn't an internet & social media and although I knew nothing of Alan Turing's work I did know a little about C. Shanon etc...and studiying Astronomy at the time it wasn't hard to extrapolate and guess what was coming.

Even George Orwell didn't guess at how actually bad it really became. We live in a world where the nightmares are real, and controlled by men we will never know. Who know what monsters still lurk in the shadows?

BTW, I think we can blame Babbage (1791-1871) for the monsters we know about. I gather he was the inspiration for Turing's infernal computer ( though it did come in handy for defeating the German U boats, so not all bad ).

Leave Tug alone.  Isn't it nice without hearing how articulate Harris was from him?

Didn't he also tell us how intellectually competent Biden was, till he got removed for being mentally incompetent. I still don't understand how he could not be competent to be the next POTUS, yet allowed to remain as POTUS.

Can anyone explain that?

BTW, Biden seems to be rather quiet recently, is this a real life version of the movie Dave?

I learned about AT's ideas/experiments later and cracking the Enigma code was just one, another was considering AI and overseeing Britains first computer manufacture in the Midlands. Lovelace and Babbage really put an 'engine' on to what counting devices were around at the time.

I don't see modern technology as having 'monsters' but having a 'dark side' as one of the consequences of its use (LASER is a good example).

I would expect PE Trump to be no different to other Head of State being interested in what modern tech can do.

For sure they will use it for dirty tricks. Just imagine what awful things they will get up to with AI- actually I'm not evil enough to imagine all the awful things they will get up to. Expect the first use will be by criminal gangs to blackmail people with fake photos. The old adage that if one is innocent one doesn't need to fear is no more. A world where we can trust nothing is coming.

I don't like being tracked and spied on and having everything I write on the internet scrutinised by some spotty youth that can't get a real job. Obviously I have to accept that I have to be careful what I put on here.

I don't know what the father on the run has to do with anything, but yes, and I doubt he has a mobile phone or credit cards. We live in a sad world where a nasty woman can deprive a man of his kids because the courts are biased against fathers.

Just came by the story a few days ago, poor kids all because their father can't trust the society, and about his ex, I know nothing about, and can't say.

You don't feel you miss out big parts of your life, making your life so complicated?

I had a great life, but that is all over and now I'm just filling in time till the fat lady sings for me. Even if I had a million $ I'm not able to do any of the stuff I loved in the past.

I think that if I did win Lotto, all I'd do would be sail around the world on cargo ships, look at the ocean and watch DVDs at night. I say cargo ships as I think I'd hate a cruise liner- all those people!

Why do you say poor kids? You don't know that they are unwilling to be there.

Far as I'm concerned he is right to not trust society.

I can think of many reasons why a normal social life with mom, family and other kids can be healthy, not to speak of Healthcare and safety.

It will last as long everyone is healthy, and will come to an end when someone get sick.

He is egoistic and stupid among several diagnoses comes to mind.

Wife said there where only one problem she had with him

“We got on really well, we were a good couple, but there was just certain behaviour that I had actually said no, no more. Enough is enough. This is not ok.”

It was the controlling, she said.

“He didn’t like me to go anywhere or do anything. He refused to let me put the children into daycare so I could go out to work.”
