Good morning! Has anyone been to Phuket Immigration recently to do a retirement extension based on monthly income? I only ask because they change rules more often than I change underwear and I have to go in the next few days. Any new submittals or requirements demanded this year? Thanks for your feedback! Cheers, Ron

I will add these caveats which should apply to ANY office for 65K monthly deposit extension regime:

Make sure you update your passbook as soon as possible following you monthly deposit so that passbook activity is not 'merged'

Do not have any FTT deposits (or any deposits) to your account so that there are 12 FTT deposits only in your deposit statement.

The 12-month FULL statement is for the 800K crowd to show that minimum balances were maintained whether for 800K or 400K. There are no such requirements to maintain any account balance for the 65K method. Ask your immigration office if you can dispense with this silly requirement for the 65K crowd.

Where did that idea come from.

Many folk using income method would have other transfers from abroad in addition to the specified 12 monthly transfers of 65k +

Use a different account or an ATM. Last time that happened to me they spent time at immigration office trying to figure out which deposits were pertinent for the 65K requirement.

While having a dedicated account for immigration purposes is a good idea I don't understand any inconvenience to immigration.

My monthly transfers are done 15th of every month.

Similar amount each month.

Variations due to exchange rate.

In addition to needing funds for various reasons such as medical, car purchase etc etc....it make sense to transfer into same account.

Last year when my deposit document from Bangkok Bank listed 14 FTT transactions it caused great perplexity for the IMM  official.

I decided to not let that happen again. You can do as you like.

Similarly, my monthly transfer, via WISE is done on 1st each month, and I specify the amount of Baht to be transferred, not the originating currency, thus avoiding any variations. The suggestion of using a separate bank account/book is very sensible.

That's very important for folk transferring close to the minimum 65k.

Just a guess, but I think most expats transfer much more, so never danger of dipping below 65k baht.

As for the OP, I suggest 12 month bank statement best option.

200 baht.

I am lucky in that my IO allows the Combination Method, so 35k per month with 420k in the Bank.

I guess 35k is enough for you at your old age

But as your near 80 it might be time to start dipping into that 420k
