Foreign driver at large after hit-and-run and chase in Bangkok - video
Surrounded by a mob of taxi riders with their actions well known, I can understand why he didn't want to exit the car... but he should have sat there and not got away, just waited for the authorities to arrive. -

Seven Monks Injured in Car Crash on Bridge in Ang Thong
Picture courtesy of responders A collision involving a car and a pickup truck carrying monks on their morning alms round left seven monks and two temple disciples injured. The incident occurred on December 5, on the Chao Phraya River Bridge in Pa Mok District, Ang Thong Province. Police Lieutenant Amnat Meethongkham of the Pa Mok Police Station received the emergency call and coordinated with rescue teams to respond to the scene. Upon arrival, authorities found five monks lying injured on the road and two others trapped at the front of a Toyota pickup truck belonging to Wat Mai Panich. Rescue workers promptly extricated the trapped monks and provided first aid before transporting them to Pa Mok Hospital. Scattered alms bowls and carts were found at the site, with the pickup’s rear damaged from the impact. A short distance away, a green Toyota car was discovered crashed into the bridge railing, its front end wrecked. The driver, later identified as Mr. Pongpanot 35, sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the same hospital. Due to his critical condition, police were unable to question him or conduct an alcohol test at the time of the incident. According to witnesses, the monks from Wat Mai Panich routinely use the pickup truck to cross the Chao Phraya River to collect alms at the Pa Mok Market. A local resident stated, “I was at work when someone ran in shouting that the monks’ vehicle had been hit. I rushed out to see the aftermath and called for rescue services.” Preliminary reports indicate that five monks were ejected from the vehicle during the collision, sustaining various injuries. Two additional monks and two temple disciples, seated in the back of the truck, were also injured in the crash. Police have detained Mr. Pongpanot for further investigation and potential prosecution, pending his recovery. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. -- 2024-12-06 -

Do Expats in Thailand Trade Western Wives for Younger Thai Women?
It’s something I’ve seen happen enough times over the years that it makes me wonder just how common it really is: A Western man moves to Thailand, when he's in his 40s or older, often on a job posting or for business, and he brings along his long-term wife foreign from back home. Fast forward a few years, and that same man has suddenly divorced his foreign wife and married a much younger Thai woman. I’ve personally known three or four blokes who’ve gone down this road, and it always leaves me with questions. Is this really a natural byproduct of moving to a place like Thailand where the women and cultural dynamics are so different from the West? Or is there something about Thailand specifically, its allure, the culture, or simply its sexual temptations, that causes the breakdown of these long-standing marriages? From what I’ve seen, it often plays out in a similar pattern too. The man becomes enamored by the attention he receives from younger Thai women that are around him, especially when compared to the type of relations he's experienced within his Western marriage. Then, whether it’s the novelty or simply the allure of something “new,” he hastily leaves his wife for a relationship that seems fresh and exciting and possibly makes him feel younger again. But here’s the downside: It doesn’t always end well. Some of the men find that their new Thai wives aren’t at all what they had expected. Financial strain is common issue, as the new wife may be all about the money, support of her family, or a spendy lifestyle. In some cases, the man ends up in financial ruins, paying out at a level he can’t sustain or being drained of lots of his cash by his wife’s extended family. And then there’s often the added regret later. I’ve seen men, years later, look back and wonder if they made a huge mistake. And I wonder if they would still be happily married to their original wives if they’d never moved to Thailand? Maybe the move itself exposed cracks in the marriage or was it simply the allure of a younger, more vivacious partner that was enough to cause them to overlook the good thing that they were giving up? Of course, this raises moral questions too. Is it even fair to uproot your spouse, bring her to a foreign country like Thailand, and then suddenly dump her for someone younger and local? Is that selfish, even cruel, or is it simply just a reflection of the nature of life itself and how things can change. But how common is this in Thailand, really? It is a steadily repeating pattern among expats who move to Thailand with their Western wives? And do most of these men find true happiness in their new marriages, or do they eventually regret the decision to trade in an established loving partner just for someone new and a bit younger? -

Foreign driver at large after hit-and-run and chase in Bangkok - video
He is the foreigner of course he will be blamed The other party won't have any insurance or tax for driving on the road anyway so of course the foreigner will have insurance and he will be blamed. And yes he could have hit the person and drove straight to the nearest police station and it wouldn't be called a hit-and-run. Taxi drivers are acting totally out of order. -
