A crash occurred in Loei Province when an ambulance from Laos collided with an 18-wheeler truck, resulting in the death of a patient and injuries to four others.

The accident took place at approximately 13:00 on December 5, on Route 2099, near Phra That Sajja in Ban Tha Li, Tha Li District, Loei Province. The ambulance, an EMS vehicle from Botene Hospital in Xayaburi Province, Laos, was en route to deliver a patient to a facility in Tha Li, approximately 30 kilometres from its origin.

Emergency responders from the Tha Li Police Station (Saphan Thong Police) and local rescue teams rushed to the scene. According to preliminary investigations, the ambulance was involved in a head-on collision with an 18-wheeler truck under unclear circumstances.

The impact left the ambulance severely damaged and caused multiple injuries. Four individuals, including the ambulance crew, were injured and were immediately transported to Tha Li Hospital for treatment. Tragically, the patient being transported in the ambulance was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck rolled onto its side and the driver was one of the four casualties taken to hospital.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the collision. Witnesses at the scene reported busy traffic in the area at the time of the collision, which may have contributed to the crash.

Now that ain't supposed to happen...

What's a Laos ambulance doing in Thailand

I've said it many times before, there's 2 things drivers in Thailand fail to do:

1) Yield at pedestrian crosswalks (aka Zebra crossings).

2) Yield the right away to emergency vehicles.

On the other hand, the ambulance should have flashing lights and siren going.......

"...head on collision....."      Sounds like something I've seen occur all too often, over-taking another vehicle when going around a turn or another reason the view is obstructed from seeing oncoming traffic.

Reading isn't too difficult....

"The ambulance, an EMS vehicle from Botene Hospital in Xayaburi Province, Laos, was en route to deliver a patient to a facility in Tha Li, approximately 30 kilometres from its origin."

I thiught Loei was more than 39ks from the birder, anyway, the patient should have been transferredto a Thai ambulance, as Laos drive on the right side of the road, this could lead to confusion.
