Georgealbert Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Picture from responders. At approximately 14:20 on December 7, police from Wang Nuea Police Station, Lampang, responded to a collision involving an SUV and a six-wheel truck on the Wang Nuea-Lampang Road near Ban Kwang Temple in Wang Tai Subdistrict, Wang Nuea District. The crash resulted in one fatality and four injuries. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a white Toyota Innova SUV with Bangkok license plates that had veered off the road and sustained extensive front end damage. The driver, a man aged approximately 45-50 years, was pronounced dead at the scene. Rescuers used hydraulic tools to extricate his body, as he had been trapped inside the vehicle. No identification documents were found on the deceased, but he was believed to be a Bangkok resident. Two passengers in the SUV, a teenage girl and boy, suffered bruises and back pain and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The six-wheel truck, which had also skidded off the road and suffered front-end damage, was found on the opposite side of the road. Two occupants of the truck sustained minor injuries but declined hospital treatment, opting instead for on-site first aid provided by rescue teams. Initial reports indicate that the SUV had been returning from a merit-making visit to a local temple, while the truck was transporting a load of rice. The vehicles collided head-on, but the exact cause of the crash remains unclear. Authorities are conducting a detailed investigation to determine the events leading to the accident. The body of the deceased driver has been sent for preliminary examination, and efforts are underway to contact his family. -- 2024-12-08 1
