I've been a help to everyone else other than you 😊 'Pushing' Localphone as it's the cheapest and fits the bill.

Whereas you have been posting totally inaccurate information and arguing with whoever you can find. Wasn't it @Gottfrid you were arguing with here recently?

Now it's me because you are too lazy to install the application to find answers to your questions yourself.

Why not post something helpful instead of being a pain?

You know. Don´t worry about it! @scubascuba3 think he owns most threads. Just a silly behavior resembling clown activities.

So, you wish to call anonymous, right. Then you pay for not dare to reveal your identity. 😂

Nothing is incorrect! You can get quite cheap calls through every Thai phone provider by using specific set of numbers. If you wish to call from one phone and show another number. What? That´s just silly. Pay up!

it went over your head it seems. People want to show a UK number for example when calling from Thailand

He's argued with everyone the most, posted totally inaccurate info and tries to completely derail the thread with his childish arguing. Yet he tries to convince you that I am the Troll. He needs to self reflect, as his friends obviously haven't shown him the way.

Which people? The dodgy ones you wrote about earlier? 😊 Why would they want to do that?

My mate got a US Tello eSIM. All done online from Thailand. Uses the number mainly for 2FA stuff with banks and the like.

He reckons it's as cheap as French fries.

Your mate is not wrong......I had 3 or 4 calls to the UK of 20+ minutes duration. Less than 10 Baht each.

Don´t bother. He don´t have the ability

Don't encourage that newbie troll, we want less of those types

So, your opinion is that because someone is new to the forum and do not agree with you, it must be a troll. Can you please grow up.

Why, are you trying to unlawful avoid pension cut or tax? Soo, you see, it did not go over my head. Unless you are hiding from your friends, lying to them or have people chasing you for unpaid loans in UK.

Localphone looked good, but the app would not install onto my android phone, I signed in online and it says "We’re sorry
This service isn’t available in Thailand. Change your country".

I don't mind changing the country but not much point if I can't install the app.

Just because a few like you do not like Microsoft

Wrong.

I use MS10 as my operating system on top pc's. MS keeps trying to upgrade to MS11 but frankly even when MS no longer supports MS10, I will keep it.

Do you know if we will continue to be able to call 800 numbers without a subscription?

It depends maybe. I still call US Toll Free numbers (800, 877, 888, etc.) without charge. Maybe because when I originally downloaded Skype and it asked me what country I'm in, I picked US. Skype also gives me " local" toll rates when I call non toll US phone numbers.

For other foreign calls I use a free (up to 2000 MB) VPN Tunnel Bear to get local toll rates. You choose your gateway country from which you make the call.

Do you have a really old Smartphone or is it again a region issue? Why do you think it is that you cannot install the application?

No Samsung running Android 14, actually although it said can't install it, I noticed its icon was on the screen anyway and it seemed to open ok.

I'm not sure if the Localphone account is unavailable because I put Thailand or if it's doing it because it detects my location is Thailand, I'll try again sometime.

I think the issue with Thailand, is that Localphone began with a service that supplied you with a local number to use in order to connect to the International number. So people could use the bundled minutes on their calling plans(house and mobile phones) to connect to that local number for free and just pay Localphone for the service or you could use a Windows application to connect and bypass having to call via a local number.

Obviously Localphone does not have a range of local numbers to use in Thailand nor billing in Thai baht and therefore doesn't offer the Localphone service here. But you can still use it in Thailand by choosing a supported region and connecting via WiFi/Mobile Internet.

Nowadays, most people connect via a Smartphone application using Mobile Internet WiFi, but the original local number option allows people to use their normal house phones to connect to their service.

Yes, it´s pre-set to upgrade. It´s just you that can´t turn that off.

Indeed, I use Skype only to call banks or the government, it would be once per couple of months.

+1. Only use it two or three times a year for the same. it was useful for that. I always kept a small credit amount topped up on there to cover such times.  A subscription is not financially worth it.
