Pol. Capt. Anurak Mungchaiyaphum, an investigator at Wang Nam Khiao Police Station, was informed at approximately 23.30 on December 13, of a fatal fall in a cassava and corn farm located in Ban Khok Santisuk, Village No. 9, Wang Mi Subdistrict, Wang Nam Khiao District, Nakhon Ratchasima. The accident site, about two kilometres from the main road and accessible only through rough terrain, delayed emergency responders.

Upon arrival, authorities found the lifeless body of a man lying at the base of a tree. The victim, identified as Mr. Parinya 38, a resident of Sung Noen District in Nakhon Ratchasima, showed no signs of foul play. Initial assessments suggested severe internal injuries resulting in his death.

Nearby, investigators discovered a makeshift ladder made of bamboo branches leaning against a large tree, presumably used by the victim to climb up.

According to a friend who reported the incident, Mr. Parinya had been hired to work on the farm and had been guarding the area at night to prevent wild gaurs from destroying the crops. On the night of the accident, he climbed the tree to monitor the field for potential wildlife intrusions. It is believed he slipped and fell, losing consciousness on impact. The friend immediately contacted the victim’s relatives, the farm owner, and local authorities.

Police speculate that Mr. Parinya climbed the tall, straight tree in the dark to keep watch for gaurs or other wild animals. Due to the tree’s height and lack of branches for support, he likely lost his footing and fell to the ground, sustaining fatal injuries.

Rescue workers from Hook 31 Thai Samakkhi transported the victim’s body to Wang Nam Khiao Hospital for an autopsy to confirm the cause of death. Authorities plan to notify the victim’s family and continue interviewing witnesses and others involved as part of the legal investigation.
