A fire broke out at a plastic factory in Soi Bang Kradi 32, located in Sam Dam, Bang Khun Thian district. Firefighters rushed to the scene as thick smoke billowed into the sky. The roof of the factory partially collapsed, and explosions were heard intermittently. Initial reports confirmed no casualties or injuries, while the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Rama 199 Emergency Radio Centre reported the incident at 13:35 on December 15, alerting fire and rescue teams to the two-story concrete structure. The blaze quickly consumed both floors, concentrated around the production machinery. Firefighters from Bang Khun Thian Fire and Rescue Station deployed water and foam in an attempt to contain the fire.

By 15:15 thick black smoke continued to blanket the sky. The building’s roof structure had partially caved in, and periodic explosions prompted authorities to evacuate some personnel from the premises. Despite the challenges, firefighters successfully prevented the fire from spreading to the front, rear, and eastern sections of the building, and neighbouring premises.

The fire was contained early evening, but fire teams monitored the situation throughout the night, in case of any flare ups. The authorities had warned people to stay indoors with windows closed, because of the toxic smoke. The authorities set up air monitoring points around the local communities and will also test water supplies on December 16.

The exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage remain undetermined as officials prepare to conduct a thorough investigation, but initial reports are that the fire was caused by a damaged, leaking chemical supply pipe which ignited.

Does the factory have a name?

Which type of plastic?

Some plastics are more poisonous than others.
