Got knocked down by a motorbike going the wrong way on Suk rd Pattaya.

My crime was not looking the wrong way on a dual carriageway before i crossed the road.

You have been here long enough to know that it was your fault.

Rule 1: Expect the unexpected

Rule 2: never try and cross the Sukhumvit Road unless via footbridge.

A 71-year-old Thai man, the motorcycle rider, resident of 37, Moo 10, Tambon Kab Choeng, who was pronounced dead at 08:54, at Kabcheing Hospital

71 and still doing this?  🤦‍♂️The truck may been doing some high speed passing too or got pincered by another vehicle shining into their lane.

You can never overstate how to useless and culpable the police are too. Any person from a country with sane driving could point what's wrong all days but even after decades of driving the Thai police can't even begin to start tackling the problem.

Riding against the flow of traffic is always chancy... they lost this time.

I thought a few years back they said that driving against the proper flow of traffic would result in a 2,000 THB fine?

Why am I constantly seeing scooter drivers/riders with no helmets and using their phone?

Sadly they will never learn...

RIP....

We are dealing with the most incompetent and indifferent officials to be found panywhere in the world. They just don't care. They're not interested in doing anything, they won't get the highway patrol to pull anyone over nor the police. And nothing is ever going to change. Unless the authorities start taking this seriously.

Problem is Thailand’s masses are dumb down regarding their own safety with everybody pursuing their own selfish interest and not cooperating among users to protect lives. They should take a leaf from Vietnam’s traffic ‘etiquette ‘ whereby most  if not all riders wear helmets and do not ride against the traffic.  Moreover motorcycle speed limit is only 40 Km/hr near towns and 60km/hr on highway which help greatly in protecting lives. The rider above definitely knew he was riding towards oncoming traffic but I guess he had been doing the same for countless times until the fatal outcome. This is one trait of rural thai stubbornness at play. Poor lady rider who was utterly innocent in deciding the route taken had to bear the consequences of the rider’s stupidity too.

Big difference. Vietnam has real law enforcement, not toy police.
