The mysterious discovery of two bloated sacks floating in a canal triggered a rapid response from the rescue services in Phatthalung province.

Residents reported a strong stench emanating from the canal near Apai Borirak Road, leading to fears that the sacks might contain bodies. Rescue personnel arrived swiftly to investigate, only to find a surprising revelation.

“The smell was unbearable, and the sight of the swollen sacks was alarming.”

Upon reaching the site, the rescue team used a stick to prod the sacks and eventually cut them open with a cutter. It was a tense moment, as the team anticipated uncovering human remains.

Instead, what spilt out were parts of decomposing meat, specifically pork, that had been festering for days. The sacks had drifted to the bridge’s edge, caught by the current of the canal, and had become swollen to the point of bursting.

The incident unfolded when the Phatthalung Rescue Centre received an urgent call from concerned locals. The news of potentially finding bodies in the canal had spread quickly, prompting the rescue team to dispatch officers immediately to the scene. The centre, known for its quick response to emergencies, was on high alert given the nature of the report.

The discovery of the decomposing pork brought relief but also raised questions about how the meat ended up in the canal. It is suspected that the pork was dumped deliberately and floated along the watercourse until it reached the bridge where it was found.

The presence of the sacks in such a state not only alarmed the local community but also drew attention to the issue of waste disposal in the area.

“We thought it was a body because of the smell and the way the sacks looked. It was a huge relief to find out it wasn’t.”

Following the discovery, the Phatthalung Municipality was notified to handle the cleanup and ensure the proper disposal of the decomposed meat. The incident highlighted the importance of proper waste management and the potential consequences of improper disposal practices, which can lead to unnecessary panic and environmental concerns, reported KhaoSod.

The rescue operation, which took place today, serves as a reminder of the critical role that local rescue teams play in maintaining public safety and responding to unusual situations. The swift action of the rescue team helped to quickly dispel fears and resolve the mystery surrounding the floating sacks.

Just so I'm clear.  Are they saying that "fragrant pork marinated in a burlap sack" is not some kind of exotic local dish?
