Let's start with a question......Why might he have been issued with a ticket?......certainly not for parking.....how about speeding or driving like a total d***head? Looks like you have no idea about it at all. How is PAYING the ticket related to safety? 1

spidermike007 Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago I do not think lower speed limits save lives, nor increase safety, they just simply increase the number of people speeding. If you have a four-lane divided highway with a speed limit of 90 km per hour it's absolutely inane, and far too slow. I heard a few years ago that The Royal Gazette approved all four lane highways in Thailand to be increased to 120 km per hour, yet I still see many highways that have speeds posted of 90. Those inane laws are simply made to be broken and the fines are simply created to be ignored. I cannot even count the number of speeding tickets have gotten and have not paid and I've never had an issue with plate renewal, nor license renewal.

I get a 500 baht fine every month and have been paying them for years. Now after reading this article I dont know if I should pay it or not. Im in year 1 of applying for citizenship and suppose I dont want to risk my application being rejected. They do extensive checks on farang- many departments including thailands National Intellegency agency NIA. Criminal checks of course so it might be flagged if I have multiple unpaid bills. Its so stupid that a judge would rule the way he did. Should have been the opposite and make it 5000 baht fines and no renewals if unpaid. Everyone including me would slow down and less deaths. TIT

TIT The judge ruled they can't block tax renewals because you have an outstanding traffic fine, but that doesn't mean that the department that issues the fines can not come after you. And I think it is clearly mentioned on the receipt that if you not have paid on due date, that there will be additional fines added.
