It may not stand for anything, just their name? It's a privately owned business so might even just be the owners initials?

The money exchange booths are unlikely to have much foreign currency on hand, like the bank branches, they need to order it, based on the amount involved. Banks and exchange companies don't like to hold foreign currency because of the exchange rate risk over time.

Any busy ForEx booth in a tourist area will be able to do this, and the spread GBP>THB to THB>GBP is very narrow in my experience.

 

Every booth that I've seen displays the exchange rate both ways.

TT have a couple of large branches who can. One is on 2nd Rd, the other on Pattaya/Naklua Rd.

OP hasn't indicated if he needs "stacks of sterling" but if he does the link I sent is showing the rates for their headquarters on 2nd road which is not a booth. So yes they will have lots of £ there in the office

The poster did not state about a large sum (which I would consider upper 4 digit pounds).

Go to the main branch of TT on 2nd rd and come back here if they have less than 5000 GBP in the drawer.

Even on the Thai site I found only the two syllables.

Telegraphic Transfer is unlikely as their business is about the opposite of "TT".

I'm a Brit but that's not relevant. Forex booths aren't in the business of selling foreign currency, their primary business is selling baht and reducing their risk by not holding foreign currency, longer than necessary.

How can you possibly know what is the most traded currency in Pattaya, do you have proof of that?

 

And since uk tourists represent only a small percentage of total tourism, I find that hard to even imagine as true.

In relation to how much you can exchange at TT, their FAQ's say you can change a maximum of 800,000 baht per day into foreign currency (so about £18,400). Not sure why some people think this is some small isolated booth. TT is a huge business covering most of Pattaya

Those are BOT regulations, not rules made up by the booth. And nobody said forex in patts is a small business, only that the availability of gbp may be limited.

Ever seen the signs with the important currencies at the booths?

USD, GBP, EUR, AUD and ?

I've lived here for over 20 years, I've been to Pattaya at least twice a year, every year during that time (nearly always en-route to some where else mind you!).

 

Anyway, how are you doing with that proof that GBP is one of Pattaya's most traded currencies, or that calculation of 200k British tourists as a percentage of total tourism, 32 million!!
