Also bear in mind there are lots more such testimonies, I have a whole collection of them. I have no problems with flying with pilots who believe the globe theory (though I suspect most don't and just go along for obvious psychological reasons, group effect, peer pressure…), it doesn't stop them from doing what they are supposed to do. My nephew is a certified pilot - he's Ginger and convinced he's going to get laid.... There... that puts all the ridiculous discussion into perspective... you have a video of 19 pilots and then go on to state you suspect most Pilots are not flat-earthers for obvious psychological reasons, group effect, peer pressure.... Your delusion is well beyond the realm of intelligent debate, even at this utterly ridiculous level... apologies if that is impolite, however, the narative circling back to the preposterous is boresome - I just can keep on going entertaining the lunacy.

However, do the airline pilots shown in that video I posted seem crazy? Is this a sufficient explanation? I am sure that to many people, it will, if only for convenience purposes. A few of these pilots actually confess to never having actually thought about it, are not even aware of the “eight inches per mile squared” principle or what this should entail in terms of compensating/dipping the plane, and find themselves pretty surprised and unable to respond. It's a very interesting vdeo to watch. (And before anyone tells me "it's just 19 pilots out of XXX in the world", again, I have many more such testimonies.
Stiddle Mump Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Still can't get over the flights in the Southern Hemisphere. Why cant the planes fly direct from New Zealand to Cape Town? 2

That's the formula to describe a parabola and has nothing to do with a sphere. 1

BillyBid Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago 18 minutes ago, Stiddle Mump said: Still can't get over the flights in the Southern Hemisphere. Why cant the planes fly direct from New Zealand to Cape Town? It's more than 11,000 Kilometers between the two. They aren't exactly close by. There must be dozens or hundreds of other cities closer to Auckland without direct flights. For example, Chiang Mai is closer, but no direct flight to Auckland.

Why cant the planes fly direct from New Zealand to Cape Town? There are flights from Johannesburg to Sydney, which is not much different. Just a bit closer and much bigger cities. So hopefully that helps you get over your confusion.

You have already started the explaining, now for the sake of your own relevance, please conclude. P.S. I thought the Earth was "an oblate spheroid"?

Another poster on this topic said you cannot. I trust his judgement. Trips in the Northern Hemisphere are much shorter than trip of the same distance in the Southern Hemisphere. Can't get away from that.

What do you want to know Billy? Might this help? The volume of a sphere is as follows: D x D x D x 0.52 (more accurate 0.52375) where D = diameter 1

Perhaps you can help him with his questions if you want.

But, if you do want to know about sums and stuff, just ask me. I was professor of mats at Dagenham Dock Uni.

Actually, Stiddle Mump, could you be so kind as to confirm or disprove that the Earth's purported curvature is measured according to the formula "eight inches per mile squared"? Any other information and/or computation method in this respect is also welcome. 1

Can a lazer be directed across the great lakes from Canada to the US? If it can, then that's a long distance. And a whole different jar of mustard. Why can't a plane fly around the 'coast' of Antarctica?
