Bangkok Traffic Innovations Cut City Congestion by 25% in Two Years
Optimising the flow of existing Traffic is of course going to offer results improving congestion. As would 'shifting' the culture so that people don't enter a blocked box junction when the light is yellow - there is no concept of the greater good - Bangkok traffic really is 'dog eat dog'... But, the underlying issue is simply the pure volume of traffic on the roads. More and more Condo's, more and more shopping malls - more and more area's of huge population density and so many people getting to and from these area's in cars. The Mayor of Bogata; Gustavo Petro, is famed for his quote: 'A developed country is not a place where the poor have cars. It's where the rich use public transportation.' When public transport in Thailand is 'good enough' to encourage the wealthy and middle classes to use it, only then will we see significant improvements. The BTS / MRT network is excellent, however, it is still unusable for most of the city: We use our car 99% of the time, because we don't live within walking distance of a station. In many cases, using a car is still quicker than getting a taxi to the BTS, taking the BTS, then using a taxi on the other side (and waiting at each juncture).... But, at times of peak traffic, if needing to get somewhere thats on a BTS / MRT line we often drive 'out a little' and park up at Lotus OnNut and then take the BTS. The other factor is the heat - its hot and sweating walking 100 or 200m to a BTS station - thats a lot more uncomfortable than sitting in Air-conditioning, with cooled leather seats. Thus: I think the only way to truly reduce congestion is to 'price people out' of using their cars - this is the only way it worked in London - Congestion charges... -

"Your Bank Despises You." (essay by Dr. Vernon Coleman)
Most people are not aware that legally the money on their bank-account is NOT theirs. The moment you (or someone else) puts money on your bank-account, that money now belongs to the Bank, and you are simply a creditor of that money. And the rules for withdrawing money from your bank-account can make it quite difficult to get access to 'your' money. It is therefore wise not to solely rely on 1 bank for all your banking transactions, but besides your main bank, to spread it over different banks. -

David Lammy Criticizes Sajid Javid for Remarks on Ethnicity of Grooming Gangs
The reports were total nonsense. Propaganda. From memory I think they only recorded ethnicity in about 25% of cases they investigated (given their now well documented motivations, I wonder in which cases they decided to record that information!) which makes the statistics meaningless already. But the whole point with the rape gangs is that certain Demographics are not even investigated. They were completely dismissed out of hand when reported. In some cases the person reporting it was threatened with arrest. In other cases the victim reporting the abuse was returned to their abuser. It would be like if the Met Police decided to never stop and search Caucasians for drugs, and then proudly declared that based on their "investigations" (where BTW they only recorded ethnicity 25% of the time), Caucasians were massively under-represented in drugs carrying cases. Laughable. -

How is the FBI going to reopen a port if the Chinese company decides to close it down and refuses to work? I don't think the FBI has much experience operating any of the port equipment. I guess the federal government could try to find replacement workers, but that would be quite an effort if it happened at multiple ports simultaneously. -

Greenland
Greenland has an abundance of rare minerals, which are becoming ever more important in high tech manufacturing. The reduction in ice coverage is making mining these minerals more practicable. There is an awful lot of money to be made from this in the next few years. Trump is unlikely to be around to benefit from the full extent of these profits, but Musk will be, and if Trump presides over acquiring Greenland and opening it up to US mining companies he will be richly rewarded! Much the same could be said of Canada. -

David Lammy Criticizes Sajid Javid for Remarks on Ethnicity of Grooming Gangs
This entire article is about the rape and torture gang in Huddersfield, who were all Muslim men of Pakistani heritage; what is your agenda that you are trying to hijack the thread away from the focus of the article, as if to deflect any blame or responsibility away from Muslim men of Pakistani heritage ? Maybe you should research the ethnicity of the rape gangs in Oxford, Rotherham, Telford, Rochdale, Oldham, Newcastle, Bradford, Dewsbury, and Keighley; and when you’ve done that, let me know and I will give you an even longer list of rape gangs to research, although you probably won't like the results.
