Thanks, understand it now. Guess I got a tad confused by seeing 'Savannaket', as that locale is used by many here to get a visa from the consulate there. But yours was a true border hop, in conjunction with activating the new DTV visa on coming back into Thailand. And exiting on the exact day of your retirement extension's validity. Played like a champ!
Tomatoes are imported into the USA because it is not cost effective to grow them in the USA. Instead, US farms switched to more profitable produce or sold their land to build homes and retail developments for windfall profits. The greatest loss to agriculture has come at the hands of US citizens themselves as they allow the very best agricultural land to be sold off for real estate development. There will come a point when the USA can no longer feed itself because it does not have the people to plant and harvest the food and because it has destroyed its best arable land.
Maybe the increase in tomatoes might wake up Americans to protect their farmland. The USDA reports that between 2001 and 2016 11 million+ acres of farmland was converted to non-farm. Between 2017 and 2022, the loss of farmland grew faster, through the loss of 20 million+ acres of farmland.
