Can someone please explain to me why, in god's name, Trump thinks that "for national security and freedom the ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity"? 🤔🤪🫣🥱

I'm not looking forward to another 4 years of this nonsense...

People need to stop obsessing over Trumps random announcements.  The man suffers from verbal diarrhea, whatever thought happens to be passing through his addled brain is what comes out of his mouth.  If another world leader discussed annexing another country, that would mean that his generals have a plan and are seriously considering it.  When Trumps says something like this, it just means that he had some random thought and it came out of his mouth.  It's not time to start warming up the tanks and aircraft carriers, it's time to lower our expectations of rational discourse from the "leader of the free world".

No- you most definitely are looking forward to it to satisfy your Trump love obsession- Trump this Trump that - oh looking what Trumpy said today keeping you awake during your sleepless Trump dwellings.

The OP is clearly trolling as no one can be this stupid, and that goes for the rest of you agreeing with him.

China has a clear indebt and control strategy. Sri Lanka lost its primary shipping port to China for 99 years when they failed to repay a debt.

China has already proposed building two airports in Greenland. As pointed out by others it would be easy for China to enrich the sparse population. Enrich then control.

Unbelievably Denmark encouraged Chinese investment in the airports. Tell me, which one of you clowns wants China to control an airport that can strike Europe and North America?

The USA doesn't and Trump killed the notion stone dead last time.

Denmark has announced $1.5 billion for Greenland defence, a contribution to Arctic and NATO security. They even admitted that they had neglected their responsibilities and realized that the USA would never allow Russia or China to gain military access to the island. They know if that was a possibility any US President would annex the place.

So this is already a win for Trump. It cost him nothing to warn the Danes they better get their act together. And you can look forward to annual exercises at the newly funded airport by USAF as its being expanded specifically to handle NATO fighter jets at Danish expense.

Trump might well do something stupid in the next four years. This is not it.

Pitiful comment. You are clearly unaware that Trump blocked Chinese mining and airport plans last time round.

Do some basic research before beclowning yourself.

The issue is Russian access via the North Atlantic.

There are several key US bases that are strategically important for this.

In addition, Imagine controlling a land 47% larger than Alaska, filled with untapped resources like RARE EARTH MINERALS, reducing our reliance on China.

Plus:
Strategic military bases? Check
New Arctic shipping lanes? Double check
Greenland isn't just an island

It was along time planned from the Danish Government, you really believe Trump is telling some b.s. and they are ready to go the next day?

Secutity interests? This coming from a guy that is contemplating exiting NATO? The same guy calling global warming a HOAX, but he has realised that the Greenland ice is melting.

Below the ice, there are incredible amounts of raw materials of all sorts. To him, it's just another business deal: Secure those raw materials for the US.
