Hello,

do you know an hospital in Bangkok which practices abortion ?

It's for a Thai woman, 47 years old , alcoholic and she wants abortion

On an other forum, there was a farang woman who could'nt find any hospital for her daughter, Thai doctors refused the abortion

for religious reasons ( Buddhism  doesn't accept to kill life )

but here, it's a different  case, 47 years old is very old, alcoholic is dangerous for the baby, for me there are good reasons to abort

BTW. how much is the cost, about  ?

thank you

I meant how many weeks pregnant. ("Very little" doesn't help. Need to know how many weeks since last period).

PDA clnic does abortions every day, no problem at all provided her pregnancy is early enough.

I don't know it by name  "Arthit clinic", so not sure it is same place.  This is the correct link

I take it she already tried at the main government hospital in Prachinburi?

If pregnant over 3 months,  Khlongtan Hospital, opposite Petcharavej Hospital on Petchburi Rd, near Khlongtan Intersection

OP, good advice from Lorry for your friend situation.

Buddha has nothing to do with it. Police does though.

Explained:

The abortions performed here [in Bangkok] are done in most inhumane way. They "scoop" everything from the womb, damaging placenta and causing [often] massive bleeding. And here comes the police.

I was at the seminar at Bangkok Hospital (BKK) and reports were horrifying.

So to get to the point: its about 5-6K THB  and done at any women's health clinic, but .... [^^^]

Also, many high school girls know the contact of "Dr.Somchai" who does it.

Those savage technics are very dangerous and life threatening.

Removed posts that discussed non-medical/informational subject matter. This is not the place to discuss the political, or social aspects of abortion.

Abortion has been legal in Thailand for several years.

No need for "backroom procedures" nor for improper procedures.

Medical abortion (taking tablets) and d&c (dilatation and curettage) are both done here.

Abortion is done by doctors,  in clinics or hospitals,  staff is very caring.

The places I named are the most obvious choices,  there are others.  But many doctors or hospitals won't do it, that's their personal choice.

The posts above are misleading.

And as I said before,  it's walk-in service.  No need to call first,  just don't come after 3pm. The earlier,  the better.

The above is  correct, except that D&C is rarely used as there are much simpler surgical techniques e.g. manual vacuum aspiration - (a large syringe  connected to a straw- like tube ) and vacuum aspiration (same but using a suction machine).  In early pregnancy often neither of these as medication can be used.

It is only later in pregnancy that more extensive surgical approach msy be used.

Abortion is now legal on demand in the first trimester in Thailand.l  and legal therafter under certain conditions.  It is a comparatively recent change and there is resistance from some health providers and administrators with the result that it is still hard to obtain at many government hospitals.  At private hospitals it depends on the individual doctor but more seem to refuse than agree and the process of finding  one who agrees can be time-consuming, costly and  emotionally  traumatic.

With the PDA clinic there is no doubt, they will always provide the service unless the pregnancy is too advanced.

Same  for Khlongtan Hospital for advanced pregnancies who may need inpatient treatment or observation
