Man Found Dead in Chonburi After Drinking Session
Picture from responders. A 40-year-old man was found dead on January 2, in his rented room in Phan Thong District, Chonburi, following a suspected heavy drinking session to mark the New Year. The grim discovery was made after the landlord became concerned about his prolonged absence and unusual water usage. Police Lieutenant Boonchuen Sarasuk, an investigator with Phan Thong Police Station, received the report and arrived at the scene along with rescue workers from the Traikuntham Foundation. The property, located in Moo 4, Nong Tamlueng Subdistrict, was a row of single-storey rental rooms. At the scene, officers found empty bottles of herbal liquor and beer scattered outside the room. Inside, they discovered the decomposed body of Mr. Anurak Wangsant, aged 40, lying in the bathroom, with the shower running. It is estimated that he had been dead for approximately three days. Mr. Boonsong, 42, a friend of the deceased, told police that they had last been together in late December, sharing a bottle of herbal liquor. He said he had not seen or heard from Mr. Anurak since and had assumed nothing was wrong until police and the landlord intervened. The landlord explained that he became suspicious after noticing irregular water usage in Mr. Anurak’s room. Multiple attempts to contact the tenant went unanswered. Concerned, he unlocked the door with a spare key and was met with a foul odour. Upon investigation, he found the body in the bathroom. Police have taken Mr. Boonsong in for further questioning as part of their ongoing investigation. The body has been sent for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. -- 2025-01-03 -

Woman Killed in Collision Between Car and Motorbike in Sattahip
Picture from responders. A woman lost her life in a fatal collision involving a car and a motorcycle on Sukhumvit Road, heading towards Sattahip, opposite the Royal Thai Navy Sports Stadium. The crash occurred at around 09:10 on January 2. Police Captain Ratchawut Sap Siri, the investigating officer from Plutaluang Police Station in Chonburi Province, rushed to the scene alongside medics from Queen Sirikit Naval Hospital and rescue workers from the Sawang Rojanathamsathan Foundation. At the scene, first responders were performing CPR on Mrs Sunit, 67, who was lying in a pool of blood on the road. Despite their efforts, she succumbed to her injuries due to the severity of the wounds. She had been riding a blue Honda Scoopy motorbike, registration from Chonburi, which showed signs of a collision. Nearby, officers found a grey Toyota car, registration from Bangkok, with damage to the front on the driver’s side. The driver, Ms Charunan, 27, was visibly distraught, crying over the incident. Ms Charunan told police through tears that she had been driving straight at a normal speed when she approached a green traffic light at the intersection. Suddenly, Mrs Sunit rode her motorbike across the intersection, leaving Ms Charunan unable to stop in time. The car struck the motorbike forcefully, leading to the fatal collision. Police recorded the details of the scene and will interview Ms Charunan and any witnesses to determine the exact circumstances of the crash and pursue legal proceedings accordingly. -- 2025-01-03 -
