The incident has raised concerns about the general state of mind of buses and an ad hoc panel suggested a psychiatric evaluation of the bus to determine the reason it lost control...

^+1 More so the news reporters that pen this nonsense.

Can you understand why countries touring Thailand prefer their own company tourist agents & bus drivers to maximize safety. So many Thai Bus drivers act so irresponsible drive without care & regard for their passengers. Happens every  week Government  does little to correct the problem. The day will come when tourists will no longer travel here due to safety.

And improve the standard of morons driving them.🤔

A few years ago the then PM was going to introduce log books very quickly. Nothing happened, these are standard in most countries I used to drive tour busses. But here they can drive as long as they like and drink energy drinks and smoke and pop whatever else, they are licensed maniacs and the government is responsible for the lack of responsibility to provide safety to the people who risk their lives boarding these death traps.

So they stuffed the Russians into a Pattaya mini bus. Nothing says compassion like terrorizing people after a  a crash trauma.  The mini bus drivers are awful and 10 burly Russians with luggage crammed in a small bus will not have been pleasant . Perhaps some tourism  person will come along with a tin of bisciuts and a wai for a photo op to show how much they care.

Russians are tough, no problem.

Not everyone is delicate

I have been on a few buses in Thailand, and have never had any of these “normal” experiences.

How about you?

If was a normal occurrence why has it been reported.

I drive past buses everyday and never seen it.

i have told you a million times before to strop exaggerating.

74 year old driver might have had a medical episode.

Congratulations on your promotion... I didn't realise you are now a moderator.

Get these f'ers off the road.   74 years old?  Why don't they have camera's in the buses to watch these people.  Even a common EV car can detect a sleepy driver.

What is "normal"?

I have been in about 5 minor accidents involving mini vans or buses.  I think each one involved the driver losing concentration or dosing off.  I try to sit behind the driver so that I can see his eyes in the mirror and honestly, I would say 50 % (maybe more) have moments where they stare into nothing or even nod off and I have videos to prove it. I have complained several times without much effect although one driver was dismissed after several complaints and admitting that he had a night job working until 3 am and starting to drive at 7 am.

He was heading flat out for a lane that was closed, looks like he did not see it the red X, and tried to swerve into a lane that was open, but way too late and way too fast - no chance!!. Injured passengers on the bus, in the cars he ploughed into and the motorway staff that were directing people through, he just ruined so many peoples day!!!

Why was he heading flat out??

I often drive past that area and there are signs at least 1 km before. Most cars start slowing down well before the toll, but he didn't. had he fallen asleep and for a few seconds?

That paragraph reads as if it is the fault of foreigners.

Of course it is their fault. If they weren't here that accident wouldn't have happened.

'Scores of Russians Injured.'  In England, a score = 20, therefore there was only 1 score +7 = 27 Russians  on the bus. 10 were uninjured, (27-10) leaving 17 injured. By my reckoning that is not even a dozen and a half (12 + 6 =18) let alone 'scores'!!

All these comments about "Scores". Scores is an idiomatic expression mean "many." We also say "a couple of" which doesn't always mean two.

How many people say "just a minute" and take 3 or 4 minutes.

Thats good,! 37 Girls or Ladyboys won't get insulted, roughed up or short-changed, by scumbag Draft dodgers,

Thailand is having all kinds of problems right now, mainly caused by Russian scum, girls getting beaten up, numerous criminal activities, Drugs etc, they should all be deported back to their wonderful motherland Russia, and sent to the meat grinder

According to another news outlet the driver was 74yrs old.

Do we know if he had a "medical event" which incapacitated him?

Preliminary investigations suggest that the bus may have lost control due to excessive speed or abrupt maneuvers.

If course. There is about a 98% chance that this was driver error, recklessness, a lack of skill, or just sheer stupidity, and about a 2% chance that there was a issue with the vehicle.

Right short of the throtte jammed and complete brake failure there is NO excuse.

Why not read at least the bold print.

It was not that mini bus that you write about

Even the toughest tour operator could not stuff 37 people in an 11 seater.

I did read. It was the 10 uninjured Russians who survived the   big bus crash.
