Care Factor,  Zero.

So why do you care?

It is not your country, you don't even have a voice or a vote in Thailand, and there are far richer people in Thailand, but I don't see you taking a pop at them.

I wouldn't know. Never been one. But since you've once again directed your subjective narrative at me...

Nope...wrong again, as usual...but that's expected from extremist right-wing fanatics.

No clue what you're on about (again) with the inaccurate assumptions and blatantly false claims...

FYI...I'm a lifelong, true blue thru & thru American Capitalist 🇺🇲 who never had a freakin' thing given to me from the government, nor family. Been working since age 10. Had a brilliant 35 year career in the US aviation industry. E-Z livin' with great pay, benefits and time off. Invested wisely...mostly in US markets, but also international and emerging. PAID all my taxes and retired extremely well off at 59.

Now you're privy and can consider yourself actually informed for a change. 👍

She'll no doubt be championing changes to the laws around foreigners owning land in Thailand...  :partytime2:

Arrogant foreigners demand that they should have the right to purchase land in Thailand. It is a colonial attitude that would allow the dispossession of Thai people of their birthright and would create  an inability of Thai people to access affordable housing. That is what you demand. Many western nations allowed this and now locals are unable to find affordable hosuing. Look at what happened in London with Gulf Arabs and Russians who purchased large numbers of  residential buildings and homes forcing values up and out of the reach of UK nationals. Canada is another illustration. Vancouver saw a large portion of its affordable housing disappear as Chinese absenteee speculators/investors moved in. The greater Toronto area has millions of Indians who have relocated and who have removed affordable housing from the local market.  In Thailand, comparatively wealthy foreigners would swoop in and speculate on residential properties.  That's what your demand would  give.

but there is no money for raising the daily wages, there is no need to update the outdated Thai laws, as they can own land and houses in other countries, and they can bring very expensive things from abroad without paying any import tax... They should be ashamed that these superrich people keep the population so poor... If there is karma they will pay for it

What does that have to do with one person's relatively small fortune? You carry on as if she was responsible for  economic characteristics which have been part of the nation for centuries. You call the Thai laws on ownership out dated, yet responsible people disagree and understand why there must be restrictions.  Land speculators would swarm Thailand. You would probably be one of the people bemoaning the arrival of such people as condos switched to Air BnB and affordable  long term residences  were priced out of the reach of elderly Europeans. No more Pattaya for UK and European pensioners.

Thais are most certainly taxed on  expensive foreign goods. Yes, some people  try to get around the import duties, but you know what? They eventually get caught. It may take some time, but there is always someone who will snitch and whenever the circumstances are conducive, a knife finds its way to the back of the  duty evader. Just ask Big Joke.

The super rich do not keep the population poor, the Thai people do it themselves. Many ethnic groups have had long term family investment strategies where  grandparents  and parents sacrifice for their children . It is demonstrated by the old immigrant populations of North America and Australia. Most of the immigrants worked their butts off so that their kids would  have a better life. The kids were sent to professional schools, and families pooled money to purchase homes etc. Homeland populations rarely show this characteristic. Thailand culture treats children as a retirement strategy from whom older people bleed dry to everyone's detriment. Wealthy Thai families  are characterized by their investment in their families.Unlike much of the population of Thailand, they play the long game.

What do you know about her. work history? Are you jealous? Did you obtain a master diploma in the UK  as she did? She worked at the family real estate group managing multiple property developments and projects.  Have you ever been an executive officer of a hospitality group as she was? No one has ever criticized her work performance, not even under the cover of the   malicious Thai gossip websites. She was always described as a conscientious worker who took her responsibilities seriously and was an integral part of guiding the hotel group's expansion.

She has certainly been more successful and active than the typical collection of foreign detractors. It is incredibly arrogant and idiotic for so many semi illiterate ne'er do wells to criticize the woman, not because of anything she has done wrong, but for the simple fact that she is beautiful, educated and wealthy. She is the type of woman they could never even meet because the best that they can hope for is some multi tattooed tramp who works as a hooker in a beer bar.

Thai journalist should interview her on TV and social media about those handbags. Does she think it's necessary to have a different one for every day? Or is that to show her status or what?

She has handbags. Jay Leno has 180+ vehicles and 160+ motorcyles valued at USD 55 million.  Jeremy Clarkson is worth 70 million USD that includes large real estate holdings and vehicles. Their homeland media doesn't pester them as you would have Thai media pester  the PM. On the contrary, Jay Leno's vehicles are envied and  Clarkson's obnoxiousness is celebrated.

The woman likes purses. Some men and women have jewellery worth much more.  Others collect baseball cards or comic books. Action Comics #1 sold for  $6 million USD. No one made a fuss over it as you are doing over a lady's collection of purses.

Well, it's big for sure. But then again, at least in Thailand, they hold their political leaders to account and make them declare, publicly, their personal assets. Some don't. Remember the watches, lent from a dead friend? What comes of any of it (taxes, etc.), if anything is another matter. But think about this - the leader of the most powerful, wealthiest nation on earth doesn't have to release any of that information, because he has (snif) 'Liberty, Freedom and Justice' on his side.

Do tell. Seems to me that some are just jealous.  She just has a  nice amount of assets. It is nothing much to make a fuss about.

In 2021, Thailand had about 125,400 millionaires and 1,300 multi-millionaires. In 2023, almost 900 ultra-high-net-worth individuals in the country had an estimated $30 million or more in wealth -https://www.forbes.com/sites/alexledsom/2024/11/21/what-it-means-to-be-wealthy-in-thailand-and-how-to-get-visas-to-move/

Failures who refuse to take responsibility for their own failings and instead blame others for their failings annoy me. One does not succeed if one fixates on the wealth or social position of others and  wastes time trying to change that which they cannot change.

No, no. It's more that we have a kind of, how to put it, weight that we should carry, based on, I don't know, the place that we come from? To lift others up by kind of "taking over" and showing them "how it should be done". Yes. That's it. :cheesy:

Yes, this is key, they have no clue, they even approve and encourage this wealth.

Thai TV dramas well reflect on that.

Their stories often  involve millionaire household with huge mansio.

And the source of their income is totally obscure.

They vaguely admire those people's fortune and lifestyle; utterly convinced it is the result of their excellent merit during previous life.

That is Thai's common illusion/perception of the (super)rich .

A kind of negative aspect of their Buddhist belief(accumulated Good Points will better their rebirth status).
