So, you do agree with Boris Johnson on this issue

Being transported back in time to when he made these comments....definitely not.

As of today.....there is no need for another, time delaying report.

So, you think that there should have been a national enquiry in 2019 , but there shouldn't now be a nation enquiry in 2025 .

What has changed in the six years that has made you change your mind ?

The Jay enquiry reported in 2022.

Prof Jay produced a report on grooming gangs in Rotherham in 2014 and then chaired the national inquiry into various forms of child sexual abuse which reported in 2022.

“We have learned a lot from those reviews that have already been undertaken,” she told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme. “Locally, people need to step up to the mark and do the things that have been recommended.

“I think that the time has passed for more inquiries. We’ve had enough of inquiries, consultations and discussions, and especially for those victims and survivors who’ve had the courage to come forward, and they clearly want action.

“We have set out what action is required and people should just get on with it. Locally and nationally.”

The recommendations from Jay need to be implemented absolutely, but the thousands of victims also need justice. They were ignored with evidence from inquires that police, CPS and politicians covered the abuses leaving them traumatized with continuing rape and gang rape. Those responsible for that need identifying and held to account. This is why a new inquiry needs to happen along with the recommendations from Jay.

How about....there has already been two major enquiries?????

No one held accountable, how about that?

Why would you need an enquiry?

If there are laws in place and they have been broken just prosecute the guilty.

If no laws were broken then the announcement yesterday should address that......but I can't imagine the law can be applied retrospectively.

How do you identify the guilty? You've not read any of the inquiries have you. An inquiry is needed that compels witnesses to attend and the power to recommend action against them to where possible. This has been discussed numerous times in these topics, read why the Tories want a new enquiry and do some research.

How do you imagine the police force and judicial service works?

......why the Tories want a new enquiry......seriously?......after 14 years in power 'spaffing money up the wall' on enquiries and doing nothing.......the Tories are now highly stressed and want an enquiry.....5555

There have been calls for a new wider enquiries , investigate the involvement of politicians and the media , who at the BBC were involved and which politicians were involved .

Jimmy Saville  and Cyril Smith probably were not isolated cases .

There were numerous people at the BBC involved in it .

Have an enquiry about that

Is that a serious question? Everybody knows how the police force and Prosecution services work. But if police covered it up along with other officials how do you think that affected the children still getting raped?

Why would you not want people held to account for allowing these abuses to carry on for so long?

Contrary to your implied accusation...... I am more than happy for people to be held to account......I'm just surprised the Tories weren't so concerned for the 14 years they had the opportunity to do something......and now....suddenly....????

With another inquiry that has powers they can't be held to account :saai:

Nobody gets off scot free here, there are Police, Prosecutors, Tories and Labour that need to be held accountable. the kids who suffered deserve that at the very least.

The police themselves admitted their cover ups and hiding cases for over 5 years

Aren't Labour going to get in power and make everything right again ?

If Conservatives didn't do anything then  Labour supposed to be doing something ?

Or will Labour just continue doing nothing ?

Well I guess with that lot in the frame, plus local councillors et al, there is no chance of an enquiry.

Rubbish, a national independent enquiry with powers  needed as called for by the Tories. Its not run by them.

So now they call for one.....what a joke.....instead of commissioning one whilst they had the opportunity???....guess they were more worried about spaffing money up the wall than accountability for those involved in a cover up???

What's a joke is that instead of getting behind an enquiry which is the right thing to do, the politicians bicker and the children have zero justice.

Give them time - they've only been in power since July!  Let's judge them after two terms in power.

That's why they are going to take action now, rather than have another lengthy and costly inquiry!

Well, nothing apart from jailling 100's of the offenders in many different Court cases , stopping the abuse and holding an enquiry, apart from that they did nothing

Scratching the bloody surface isn’t doing a lot. How many corrupt cops & local government officials have been held responsible? The point I’m making, which you missed in your attempt to defend a contemptible government, is that these disgusting events are being used as a political football to score points, the last people these b****rds care about are the victims!

I wasnt defending anyone, just pointing out that something was done , as opposed to your claim that nothing was done

Really? 6 months waiting for the now while the rapes continue and with no new inquiry it also means no justice for those who hid the abuse for years and the victims, 1000's of young girls. Pathetic response from you.

The Biggest Peacetime Crime—and Cover-up—in British History

The serial rape of thousands of English girls went on for many years. Few in power cared. Then Elon Musk started tweeting.

Social workers were intimidated into silence. Local police ignored, excused, and even abetted pedophile rapists across dozens of cities. Senior police and Home Office officials deliberately avoided action in the name of maintaining what they called “community relations.” Local councilors and Members of Parliament rejected pleas for help from the parents of raped children. Charities, NGOs, and Labour MPs accused those who discussed the scandal of racism and Islamophobia. The media mostly ignored or downplayed the biggest story of their lifetimes. Zealous in their incuriosity, much of Britain’s media elite remained barnacled to the bubble of Westminster politics and its self-serving priorities.

They did this to defend a failed model of multiculturalism, and to avoid asking hard questions about failures of immigration policy and assimilation. They did this because they were afraid of being called racist or Islamophobic.

Started tweeting what most commoners think!

The political elites  and authorities failed to protect .

And now on to the cover up !

What's pathetic is the political capital trying to be made by the Tories and the likes of Musk about something that has been going on for decades and was previously ignored.  I hope the government stands strong and implements the recommendations of the Jay inquiry with haste.

You seem to suggest the Tories did nothing. You would be very wrong, under the Tories a new dedicated police taskforce was set up to bring down grooming gangs which has supported police forces in England and Wales to make hundreds of arrests in its first year.

Established by Rishi Sunak in April 2023

You are wrong, it was not ignored but much more needs to be done rather than cutting police budgets so they have to reduce man power.

Labour are now in power and have been for 6 months. Its up to them "now" and has been up to them for 6 months. How many of the recommendations from the Jay report have been implemented? Why are they not going to hold people to account who deliberately hid the abuse? What about justice for the thousands of girls who were raped and nothing was done because they were Muslim gangs?

The Inquiry was in the UK, it was established under the Inquiries Act 2005, Government ministers set the terms of reference

Well of course the government set the terms of reference for the Inquiry, but the inquiry was totally independent within the set framework; not “Tory run” as you erroneously, and deceitfully claimed.
