Cancun to Cuba, and then from Cuba to Key West.

Also, ...  Baja California should belong to California....just due to the name, and also the position of Baja CALIFORNIA.

If they did that, I might return to the Americas  😎

So what, we call the Stretch of water between England and France "The English Channel".

The French call it "La Manche" ( the sleeve). Pretty much the rest of the world calls it La Manche.

The world will no doubt continue to refer to The Gulf of Mexico as The Gulf of Mexico!

He doesn't need the people who voted him in anymore.

Does that include the Republican members of Congress?   He will not have the dictatorial powers as some claim.

Why would it? Read my statement, really basic English and easy to understand.

Why not?

Personally I don't really care.

It turns out that the government CAN change the name.

But that doesn't mean that the U.S. can compel people outside the U.S. to change the maps and use a new name as the Gulf of Mexico has stood for 400 years.

Perhaps a compromise?

Golfo de Estados Unidos?

Also to say Gulf of America is not really specific enough.

The Americas span two continents.

There is only one Mexico.

The old quote --

Poor Mexico. So far from God and close to the United States comes to mind.

Reminds me of the correct answer as to how many continents there are ... American student (as if most would even have a clue) or ask a European student ... 6 or 7?

Toady Marjorie T Greene on cue introduced legislation to execute his master's daft plan. Now the House will be tied down with more unproductive discourse and wasting time and tax payers money. Lowering price of eggs will have to take a back seat and to hell being a party of fiscal responsibility.

I will let you have Denali, if we can change the lake in Minneapolis from the unpronounceable Bde Maka Ska back to Calhoun and we get rid of the newly designed state flag that is something Somalia would use. I doubt the majority of people living in Minneapolis could tell you the new name. Lake Bde Maka Ska rolls off the tongue.

Personally, I am against all this name changing of various geographical locations, including the renaming of 9 U.S. military bases.  We have an Hawaiian activist in the Hawaii legislature that wants to change the small town of Capt. Cook to a  Hawaiian name.  None of this BS is going to change history.

Denali is a bit of a special case.  Many people in Alaska never liked or used the original name McKinley because it was named for political reasons after someone who had nothing to do with the mountain.  The state government of Alaska had been asking the federal government to change the official name to Denali for decades, long before this renaming nonsense became a trend.

Again, are you saying Republican members of Congress did not vote for Donald Trump?  Could be, did you poll them?  Speaking of basic English, seems you did not comprehend some of my previous posts otherwise you wouldn't be making an such an insulting post.  Not surprising,  coming from you.

It seems like names can be changed. So what is the problem?  Many different languages in the world exist.

South America, Central America, North

America.

It has a ring to it, Gulf of America .

Gulf of America .

I don't suppose it has dawned on you that is just the name used when referring to the Gulf in the English Language.

Less than 30% of the continent have English as their first language.

Golfo de México or Golfo do México would be more appropriate.

Agree, McKinley had to no connection.  Then again, some name changes are based on false premises.

Here is some background to what I mentioned in a previous about renaming the town of Captain Cook in Hawaii.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum seems much more level headed than the USA president.

The time passed for me to edit the post but a correction I wan to make is referring to Don Trump as the president.       I should have correctly  said "president elect".

Thought my point was obvious, considering the post I replied to.   That post pointing out historically, probably half of the USA coastline belong to Mexico at one time.  Or shall we say the remnants of the Spanish conquerors.

Why stop there, when the original folks should have that honor, naming of the Gulf, reflecting them, with a few of my suggestions thrown in.

Clues in all my suggestions.  Thought that was obviously except maybe to the most ignorant of folks.  Though should have been enlightened with those suggested names, I would have though.

Now ... who's the troll ? :coffee1:

It's not surprising, in fact it's fitting,  that an over-the-top Trump fan  is mangling the English language. And thought with it.
