Convicted Rochdale Grooming Gang Leader Still in the Town & not Deported

Lawyers claimed that because Qari Abdul Rauf had renounced his Pakistani citizenship deportation would leave him stateless. The ringleader of a Rochdale grooming gang is still living and working in the town nearly a decade after he was ordered to be deported by a judge.

Qari Abdul Rauf, 55, was part of a gang of nine Asian men convicted of sex offences against vulnerable girls in 2012, including rape and trafficking.
The former taxi driver and preacher was jailed for six years but he was released in November 2014 after serving two years and six months of his sentence.

He was told that he would be deported to Pakistan following his release from jail, with immigration tribunal judges twice rejecting his appeal against deportation in 2020 and 2022. In the 2022 ruling, judges concluded there was a “very strong public interest” case for removing Rauf. His lawyers had tried to argue that having renounced his Pakistani citizenship, deportation would effectively render him “stateless”.

However, a previous hearing concluded that it would be “relatively easy” for Rauf and Adil Khan, another convicted member of the gang, to reclaim their Pakistani identities — but that they were “unwilling” to do so. Lawyers have also argued that deportation would strip the men of their right to family life as set out in the Human Rights Act, as they have wives and children in the UK. Rauf, a father of five, was convicted of trafficking a 15-year-old girl for sex and for having sex with her himself.

Sentencing him in 2012, Judge Gerald Clifton described the former taxi driver — who also acted as a religious studies teacher at a mosque in Rochdale — as “a deeply hypocritical individual”.

It has now emerged that Rauf remains living in the town, where he has spent some time working for a takeaway delivery app. “Nobody can believe that monster is still here, after what he did to those young girls. It’s disgusting. I can’t believe he was delivering takeaways to peoples’ houses, just imagine it — you are one of his victims and you open the door to get your meal and he’s there.

“What if he popped up on the doorstep of a girl he abused?”

The Home Office has come under pressure this week to publish figures for the number of convicted grooming gang members that have been deported.

Right up until Musk's tirade, suggesting deportation would have been Wacist.

Today, it would end up at the EHCR, where he would be allowed to stay, due to having a right to a family life. Filling the pockets of Human Rights Lawyers with cash, on appeal after apeal, along the way.

Never forget.

" These girls should shut their mouths, for the sake of Diversity " Naz Shah, Labour MP.

" Calls for a National Inquiry, are coming from the far right " Kier Starmer. Labour PM.

Nice to know that the many 1000's of victims, who want a National Inquiry are Right Wing *&@#$@%.

She supported the quote by retweeting it. So no different than the person who actually said it.

But you knew that.

It was a parody, it was not supposed to be taken literally, it was being ironic. But you knew that.

She has a long standing history of speaking out against grooming gangs, violence against women and children.

From the link above:

In 2020, Ms Shah successfully sued the campaigning group Leave.EU after it called her a “grooming gang apologist” in a 2019 Facebook post. The group apologised and accepted Ms Shah was a "vociferous campaigner for victims of grooming gangs", said their post was “ill-judged and untrue” and paid her damages for libel.

Interesting comment

How are the new Government going to sort it out ?

It needs action and not soundbites.

The time for action has long past, 550 have been arrested over the last 2 years and it is still going on up and down the Country.

Starmer struggles to define what a woman is. So as sure as eggs are eggs, he will not have a hope in hell of defining " Sort it out "

So I really am looking forward to someone, anyone, spelling out what " Sort it " means.

Me too.  They are promising action on the Jay report's recommendations (shamefully ignored by the last government), but I don't blame you for being sceptical about anything promised by politicians.

Why have they waited six months to make promises to do anything about it?

Nice twisty deflection. Sad.

How is explaining what it was about a "twisty deflection"? Maybe you didn't know that, maybe you didn't read the link, maybe you just react to people snipping one thing out of context, you get all aggrieved very easily, and you don't research for yourself. Sad.

You're defending a horrible tweet. Making excuses saying oh it was just.this or that.

Disgusting

Ah, resorting to fake outrage rather than discussing or reading. Pathetic, and pointless.

The Tories and media ignored this "Problem" for reasons they should answer.

Labour ignore, hand palm, dodge and divert this "UEXB" since a lot of their members and councilors.

I see a perfect example on the rise of Reform/Farage in the UK as seen with Trump in the USA by average voters who feel ignored by mainstream politicians who are surrounded by special interest groups.

So called professional politicians in the UK are happy to stick the fingers into the till, but, fallback in horror if asked to sign the receipt.  No one wants to be "The One" who starts the ball rolling or signs the order at the bottom.  This leaves the field clear for the Reform party who say the things polite company want kept quiet.

The economy could tank in the UK even worse than it is, extremists then move in, demise of the 'Weimar Republic' collapsed and a Minority party grabbed control.

Bit far of a stretch, but, Von Papen and Hindenburg thought they were in control, we all know the outcome.

Or maybe Farage is the guy to sort out all this pussyfooting, declare a suspension of 'HR' deport a few hundred, have a word in the ear of a few hundred more, become more powerful and pass draconian laws.......  Think it cannot happen??

Prevention of Terrorism Act in the UK brought in the suspension of common law protection, civil rights and more.  It were so severe  it had to be renewed every year by a vote in the House of Commons, when the reasons for the emergency decree were no longer needed.  The good bits the security services and police liked were signed off into law.

Section 43 anyone......  Google is your friend?

Naturally they've chosen Trump's inauguration day for his (Ricky Jones) trial.

A great day to bury the news.

I think we all know it will be a suspended sentence under Keir's 2 tier system.

Your conspiracy thing is getting the better of you again.

Ha. I didn't know that was trial date.

I think the outcome of this trial will be getting a lot of media airtime.

Hardly gaslighting Jonny, I’m simply pointing out your strange conspiracy theory.

Incidentally, wasn’t one your past grievances based on your insistence this guy wouldn’t be prosecuted?

And another one was that the Manchester airport guys wouldn't be either.

No you made that up.

I was pointing out that the Southport tweeters were charged, found guilty and sentenced to lengthy jail terms within a week, whereas Jones got to walk around for months on end as a free man waiting for his trial.

But then what else would you expect in a 2 tier system?
