Grossly misplaced, your sarcasm, because if you are getting caught refusing to put on your seat belt during taxi for take-off, we are going back to the gate...

Gotta be honest.  I don't see the big deal.  On a scale of 1-10 of bad behavior, this rates about a 2 or 3.

We would seem to be alone in believing that turning back to the gate and inconveniencing hundreds was a bad call.

Three rowdy tourists were escorted off a Nok Air flight after being caught vaping mid-air, shocking fellow passengers on board. The incident occurred on January 5 on flight DD-532, travelling from Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok to Phuket International Airport.

Footage captured by a passenger shows one of the men casually vaping and using his phone during the flight. Another reportedly hid in the aircraft’s toilet to vape, ignoring strict aviation safety regulations.

The obnoxious behaviour did not go unnoticed, as other passengers alerted cabin crew when the cabin began filling with a sickly-sweet odour. One witness, Neeranoot Meuankid, said: “I noticed them being noisy at the gate and saw them vaping in the boarding queue. During the flight, the smell became overwhelming, even through my mask, and I started feeling dizzy.”

Neeranoot also noted that one of the men disregarded the safety demonstration and refused to wear his seatbelt during take-off. She filmed the incident as evidence and handed it over to flight attendants, who tackled the situation.

Upon landing in Phuket, the three tourists were detained by police and escorted off the aircraft. They were held for investigation at the airport police station. No details on the nationalities, identities or any possible charges has been released by authorities.

Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited on all domestic and international flights. Vaping has also been banned in Thailand since 2014, although such products are still widely available for purchase.

Neeranoot added: “It’s 2025, everyone must know you can’t smoke on planes. Their behaviour was reckless and disrespectful to the safety and comfort of others.”

I have no issue following the rules. I also agree with them.

I do take issue with their covertly taking a video, posting it to social media, and seizing the opportunity to make it about them by taking it to the press.

What is wrong with reporting it to the cabin crew and leaving it at that?

in an instance such as this, a public shaming is more than warranted IMO.

I bet bad behaved Brits or Russians again...and again !

As a Brit this is exactly my thoughts . Prob a thc vape I have been on a long haul flight coming back from LA and went into the toilet after some young bloke come out sheepishly. Stank of some fruity smell . This is what happens when you legalise weed with no boundaries set or enforced.  And weed isn’t all they want , I have noticed a lot  of Cocain being used in Thailand now. And before anyone asks they ain’t all in queue for a 💩 trust me!

Could've been marijuana?

Deport immediately and 1 year ban.

Thailand does not need these kind of idiotes.

You're right, Thailand has enough already.

Why wasn't this reported to the captain and the plane returned to the gate?????

If reported to captain, he could have done what RyanAir did - land the plane half-way to destination, put the guests in hotel, calculate damages, and sued the disturbing passenger for 15000 EUR.

Well i dont know where you have been living, but now a days, there are cameras all over the place  and you do not have the expectation of privacy out in public, and if people want to post to social media all well and good and there is nothing you can do

They might get a really hard punishment and fine, if the police wants to do it. and they should! not for the fact of vaping, but for the true disrespect and total disregard for others on the plane and in the boarding gate.

Had they been super discrete, respectful and discrete, never get caught. the smoke detector on plane toilets can't detect most vapes unless it is blown directly on the sensor, most people take the hit and exhaust together with the vacuum of the flush. only dogs can smell anything in there.

Very soon xrays will start picking up vapes on carry on luggage and I bet in a year or two, no more vapes allowed on flights!

are you serious? imagine you are sitting behind them with your 1-5 years kids, and the guys in front start to smoke vapes, very likely THC vapes, after a few times, what do you do when your kids gets to inhale some of it and feel dizzy?

I'm not exaggerating, I smoked vapes before, just got a couple and gave up totally, it's just too bad for the health, I do not recommend. now a days just Dynavap.

Impossible they can't last a DMK > HKT flight without puffing. Plainly obnoxious and completely inconsiderate. Quality tourists indeed.

You just described most of the Russians in Phuket

whoa there captain mountain-out-of-a-molehill -who-knows-jack-about-vapes,

They were not smoking THC vapes, no children were sitting behind them -- in fact there is not a child in sight in the video

Why are you creating false scenarios to fuel your indignation?

settle the <deleted> down.

It is clear that vaping is forbidden just a smoking, but detaining someone for it???? Better put him on a blacklist that he can't fly for a few years...

Nah. A max time in jail is a fitting punishment for antisocial idiots ( without access to nicotine products ).

PLUS banned from flying for life.
