I think it's apparent who the real "idiots" are.  They certainly are not the people (a vast majority) who voted for Trump.  If you want to see the real "idiots" are, look no further than California.  A totally Democratic Party run State.  California liberal politics is exactly what sane people don't want.

But I wouldn't call anybody who votes for Trump "sane".

No dude, as usual you're wrong. The beauty of what's right with The USA is it is SECULAR. There's freedom of religion...and freedom from it...if one so chooses...separation of religion and government. The Establishment Clause. Unique. No official religion or favoritism of any one belief system over any other. No religious test to hold public office. And nonbelievers, yes I'm a lifelong atheist, are not persecuted nor prosecuted for lack of belief. 

 

There are plenty of American atheists in foxholes, sleeping in on Sundays 💤, then taking bullets right alongside their fellow Christian/Muslim/Jewish/Hindu/etc Americans every other day of the week. What they all have in common and most importantly is they're all Americans. NOT their belief system. They're fighting together, as a unit, for their country...NOT god(s) nor a symbol around their neck nor an avatar...but for the United States of America. Full stop.

 

That what makes America great...individual liberties such as freedom of expression and belief or not, without persecution/prosecution, which many/most Islamic countries have. 

 

See the reality that you apparently can't handle is...I have every single bit as much right to display my non-belief avatar or to wear an atheist t-shirt as my fellow Americans, regardless of their flavor of religious belief, are free to wear or display theirs. The USA has never been a democracy. It is a republic and, in the best case, could be called a "democratic republic." However, even that does not fit exactly because not all citizens are allowed to vote. Each state has its own rules on that, but in all states, a citizen must pass certain criteria before they are allowed to vote. 

It's not time for a king—a monarchy. Unfortunately, our "king," is money. What we need to do is reduce our dependence on capitalism and increase our socialistic features.

If you recall, many of the Sociology textbooks during the late 60s and early 70s which were being read by undergrads at that time dealt heavily with social inequality, and wealth disparity...probably much more so than the reading material used today.

However, it has been said that after those in power witnessed the solidarity and push-back from students at the time, they made it impossible for this type of rebellion to happen again. They did this through piling on student debt, as one example. Students were then forced to work in order to scrape by, and were compelled to work multiple jobs post-graduation, just to pay back these never-ending college debts.

 

Which meant there was much less time for thinking, and even less time for protesting.  The populace, in general, due to policies such as this became far more docile, and much more fractured.

 

Will there be a future time when we once again see protest such as that which happened in the 60s and 70s?

 

Nothing can last forever.

Off the general topic and responding to the Vietnam protest point. 

 

Many years ago, I read a news article about the KGB and the Vietnam anti-war protests.   It came out after declassification of KGB files and also claimed by an (ex?) KGB agent that the KGB was secretly involved in the Vietnam anti-war protests, helping to organize them in the U.S. of A.   

 

The KGB agent claimed their involvement in the U.S. of A. anti-Vietnam war efforts was one of their most successful propaganda coups against the U.S. of A.!

 

And completely off topic..  In late 1971 or early 1972, a U.S. of A. Navy vessel was firing their 16 inch guns at the ( I think) Haiphong harbor and unintentionally shelled a Soviet Navy vessel.   Intercepted communications had information of about 50 Soviet Navy members killed in the shelling.   Apparently the Soviet Union didn't care as nothing ever came of it.

b) just now look at "his team". Just look at the woman who he wants to become attorney general. She does not admit that Trump lost the 2020 election. And he wants a person like that as attorney general. Do you see that that is not exactly sane?

I accept people with different political opinions. But I don't accept people who support an idiot who insist that all his appointees are loyal to him and not the constitution.

Every American should be concerned about the fact that he behaves more like a king than a leader of a democratic country.

But for whatever reason millions and millions of Americans somehow "think" that is ok. Maybe reset your brain and think again if that is normal.

I prefer to look at it from the point of view that many of us ( a majority? ) are bonkers to some extent. Rational people don't believe in multiple genders or that Harris was a suitable candidate for POTUS, IMO.

 

I've never supported Trump the man, as he is just a normal guy that happened to be born lucky ( I wouldn't want Joe the plumber to be leader of the free world, no matter how nice a guy he is ), but I support his domestic policies as opposed to the Mickey Duck policies of the Dems. The main reason I support Trump though is that he didn't start any wars. The young men around the world can be grateful for that.

 

If one can't separate Trump's policies from Trump the man, one is in for a brutal 4 years.

I don't care who is on his team. Look who was on Biden's team and look at the destruction of American society and on the world by them. IMO it doesn't make any difference who is doing what, as they all make a mess of it. Biden's entire term was one disaster after another, IMO.

What I do care about is that there are no wars for boys like I was to die in, and Trump is more likely to deliver that than Harris ever was. PERIOD.

 

The rest of the human world has had more than enough of American wars, destruction and intrigue and wants a break.

I learned in Kindergarten that decent normal folks dont walk around being provocative to ones neighbors. But, thats because we learned such biblical concepts like love thy neighbor.

 

Finally, I find that folks who are such blatant haters of religion generally have no moral compass. Stalin, Lenin and Hitler are examples.

He is what he is. His politics reflect his behavior reflect his character.

GOP members could have chosen similar politics with a sane leader. They didn't.
