The well deserved reputation of Dark Tao continues.

How does the opinion of some people regarding its reputation have anything to do with this incident that does not, apparently, seem to be causing any concern to the family?

My money is on the covid19 vaccine.....mark my words.....yet another cover up.

If he was diving off a PADI-certified boat and there were PADI instructors in the water with him, and he was diving with a "buddy," then he should not have died while diving, barring, of course, that he did not have a congenital heart condition or another catastrophic issue lying in wait.

Perhaps the details will surface someday.

I feel for the parents, they have raised €30,000 to take the body back to Ireland?

The cost for a body repatriation can be anywhere between £2,500 and £20,000, however the average cost usually tends to be somewhere around £3,000 to £6,000.

The cost for an ashes repatriation is usually lower and can be around £1,000 to £3,000 depending on the level of the service.

This is to the UK,  I know what I'd be repatriation a nice urn .....

RIP little brother doesn't go into much detail of what happened but does sound like a genuine tragic accident (unlike some other fatalities that have caught the headlines in Koh Tao) while scuba diving which I believe can be dangerous at times.

What details have they given that makes it sound like a genuine tragic accident ?

Only a young man would have cost next to nothing for insurance 😭

Diving is probably listed as a dangerous activity and would not be covered by insurance.

It's not just for a funeral, it's for repatriation and a funeral in Ireland.

And a wake

...and for airline tickets to, and hotel charges in Thailand!

You don't even need 30.000 € to bring a corpse home, and any decent insurance would have covered it, as do many credit cards. Sorry for their loss, and sorry for all those cries for financial help.

30,000 baht for that funeral not more not 30,000 Euros.

It seems you're having trouble understanding a simple sentence, so let me clarify for you:

They have received 30,000 euros in donations from various supporters. What they choose to do with those funds is neither your concern nor mine. The cost of the funeral is entirely irrelevant to this discussion.

I was asking that question .

What details have they given .

I was asking a question, also.   What details have they given?

The deaths on and around that island continue to mount…..for whatever reason.

bearing in mind there are no road deaths,  there just seems to be a recurrent theme

There are plenty of road deaths, foreign, Thai and Burmese.

Why do they need 37 000 Euros for, when the cost of repatriating a body is 4000 Euros?

What are they going to spend the other 33 000 Euros on ?

Does it matter what they will spend this money on?

Not to me.

Stop telling what to do .

Write something worthwhile or don't bother posting

The irony of telling me to write something worthwhile after you wrote that festering pile of word vomit.

It’s fascinating how you’ve twisted an act of compassion and generosity into something to criticize. The family has no control over how much people choose to donate, nor should they be expected to stop others from showing their support just because a goal was surpassed. If anything, it’s a testament to how much this young man was loved and respected.

Perhaps instead of projecting jealousy or envy, you could focus your energy on something constructive (like painting a wall) or better yet, extend some empathy to a grieving family (not sure youre capable of that though based on your posts here).

Why does the Family want so much money ?

They asked for 25 000 Euro when the cost of repatriating the body is 4000 Euro .

They have already got  37 000 Euro and they are still asking for more money .

   Why is that ?

First, let me clarify a few things, since you seem genuinely misinformed about how situations like this work. As someone experienced in digital marketing and crowdfunding platforms like GoFundMe, I can assure you that the cost of repatriating a body isn’t the only expense involved.

For a starter, they havent received 37 000 Euro. Gofundme takes 2.9% + $0.30 per donation.

When a tragedy like this happens, there are often substantial additional costs such as:

  • Funeral arrangements
  • Legal fees or administrative costs related to the death.
  • Travel expenses for family members to handle affairs, both abroad and locally.
  • Potential debt or financial hardship caused by the sudden loss of a loved one.

GoFundMe campaigns are designed to offer support beyond just the immediate costs. The platform doesn’t automatically cut off donations once a goal is reached. People choose to continue donating out of compassion, and it’s up to the family how they use the funds.

This isn’t about ‘asking for more money’, it’s about people showing kindness during a devastating time. Your fixation on the numbers while ignoring the context shows a lack of understanding and empathy.

Instead of questioning the generosity of others, maybe take a moment to reflect on why this bothers you so much. If you don’t want to donate, that’s fine, but shaming a grieving family is neither productive nor kind.
