Probably a quid pro quo for something that the UN wanted from Thailand.

They don't deserve it. They consistently demonstrate a callous and inhumane attitude toward political refugees. The government here is toxic and heartless. They should have been denied. This demonstrates how weak and pathetic the UN truly is.

Because they provide red carpets for hundreds of UNHCR executives and their families happily living and prospering in the Kingdom.
