Many of the ignorant wretches on the roads here will get annoyed if you are complying with the road rules, and they themselves don't understand them. 

 

Quite common for them to get irate when they are told they should not overtake on the crest of a hill, on a blind bend or where there is a solid yellow line, etc.

 

Poor education, the local culture, a lack of desire to learn the right way, and an abysmal driver competency and licensing scheme is to blame.

I think roundabouts need traffic lights now.

That would be a waste of money, firstly the majority of Thai drivers have no damn clue of the traffic act regarding the use and rightward of roundabouts. 

 

Additionally, Thais obeying traffic lights is a 50:50 engagement at best.
