WISE transfers taking a minimum of 2 days now?!

Bangkok Bank transfers appear to all get made just after 2:00pm on the day after Wise is funded.  Same day if you're early enough in the morning.  They also appear to all be coded as International Transfers

Always been the case for me since years.

I always selected for long term stay.

In about one weeks time I will do next transfer and see what happens.

Occasionally I did transfers to Kasikorn selecting personal expense and arrived in seconds.

  • Not really interested in small amounts.   The amount in question is around 3,000 Euros. This used to be instant, taking only a few seconds to minutes. Now they seem to be 2 days minimum.

  • Doesn´t matter if you are interested or not. Wise normally make Instant transfers of under 1k USD/EURO. If higher amount it, for me, normally takes until the next day. Never had any 2 days if not holi

  • I sent AUD10k to my K-Bank account last week. I got the "money received" SMS from K-Bank before I could even close the Wise app.

Your selection of long term stay (or perhaps "tagging" if you did it prior to that) was the reason for your transfers happening as they did.  Now everybody's will be like that going by what's been seen and reported recently.

The jury is still out on Kasikorn but I would expect the same as you've seen in the past although there have been issues recently but without a pattern as far as I can discern.

There's been significant changes in the past couple of weeks discussed in some other threads.  What bank are you sending to in Thailand?

That is a good point that Wise account holders in Thailand should take note of.

According to https://wise.com/help/articles/2932335/guide-to-thb-transfers

Supported recipient banks in Thailand are:

 *  Bangkok Bank Public Company
 *  Kasikorn Bank
 *  Krung Thai Bank
 *  Siam Commercial Bank
 *  CIMB Thai Bank
*   Bank Of Ayudhya (Krungsri bank)
*   Kiatnakin Phatra Bank

Perhaps more important (to some) is starting on 6 May 2025, the following banks will no longer be supported due to payment system upgrades in Thailand:

* TMBThanachart Bank (011)

* Citibank (017)

* Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (018)

* Standard Chartered Bank (020)

* United Overseas Bank (024)

* The Government Savings Bank (030)

* HSBC (031)

* Deutsche Bank (032)

* The Government Housing Bank (033)

* Bank For Agriculture And Agricultural Cooperatives (034)

* Mizuho Corporate Bank (039)

* BNP Paribas (045)

* Bank Of China (052)

* Thanachart Bank (065)

* Islamic Bank Of Thailand (066)

* TISCO Bank (067)

* ICBC (070)

* The Thai Credit Retail Bank (071)

* Land And Houses Retail Bank (073)

* Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank (Thai) PCL (SMTB) (080)

The list of not supported banks by Wise is quite large, albeit in general most (not all) of these are not the major Thai banks

I dont think it has anything to do with the amount you are sending. I think it is all about making more money for them, one or two more days and they get a lot of interestrate on the money. I wrote them but you only get a standard answer, and nothing about why it truly takes longer time. I have changed to Transfer Galaxy instead, there it doesn´t take days to transfer.

Today, Wise has started resetting delivery times again for us, three major banks including Kasikorn, with three resets of 40 minutes each. Wise blames the banks, the banks blame Wise.

Remitly, same amount, 7 minutes.
