Trump says he believes US will 'get Greenland

He says a lot of things that is stupid.

But he has a lot of valid points as well. Wish he could understand that work together with allies is better than just soothing you mouth..

Yes I do, because I can't see any of his campaign promises resulting in a reduction in living costs. His immigration and tariff policies, if implemented, will actually add to them.

Putin invaded Ukraine because he wanted the resources of the Donbas, the most productive agricultural soil on the planet. IMO Trump is taking aim at Greenland's untapped resources, which include rare earths, iron ore, zinc, lead, gold and diamonds.

Absent some magical reduction in the cost of oil and transportation flowing though the economy almost instantly, none of Trump's campaign promises will likely result in a reduction in the cost of living anytime soon.  He knows that. Everyone knows that.  That's why he is now "demanding" that interest rates be lowered.  And yet it's almost a given that the bond market probably won't cooperate.  So it won't be Trump's fault. He tried.

Greenland would be a god deal for the USA.  I'm npt sure what it would cost, but it would probably be a bargain.

Edit:  Keep in mind, I'm not an economics wizard.  Lots of things could crash the economy and result in lower interest rates.  Commercial real estate loans going bad. A real estate crash. Massive layoffs of people due to AI.  It's going to be crazy.  Another Great Depression.

The people in Greenland may not relish being part of the stellar American health system.

Trump is not even offering statehood, although he may offer a wad of cash.

It's a classic political ploy, foreign adventures to distract from domestic issues. Margaret Thatcher used it to perfection in the Falklands war.

Trump has produced a flurry of Executive Orders, which are going to have any positive effect on inflation and living costs?

When he next needs to distract/deflect from something that has gone wrong he will "release the files"!

A simple just? So just a selfish mother with no thoughts for the interests of Greenlanders or Denmark?

You could put it that way, although I think some Greenland officials have expressed the opinion that the matter should be left to the people of Greenland.  And if money makes Denmark happy, what's the problem?

Russia and the mighty Z leader Vladimir are always ready to discuss the supply of military aid to Denmark in the event of aggression from the United States. Slava Denmark!

He needs to open up "investment opportunities" for a number of very wealthy people who gave him an awful lot of money.

"Here is Greenland, drill baby drill, dig baby dig" would be well received.

I do believe Trump is serious about Greenland and the Panama canal.   With melting ice exploration of Greenland and abusing it will be possible in the near future.  57000 inhabitants.   Pay each one a million $ and only 57 billion.   Musk could buy that with 1/10 of his wealth.

Nice miseading headline. Typical.

Where's misleading part?

He called Danish Prime Minister, he was "aggressive and conflicting", threatening with tariffs and military action if Denmark refuses to hand over Greenland. Now Germany and France got involved: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/jan/08/france-warns-trump-against-threatening-eu-sovereign-borders-greenland

There's nothing misleading about the headline.

I thought they had gravlax.

Definitely an acquired taste, like raw herring and chopped onion.

You would hate it if the orders did reduce inflation, one less thing to gripe about

I don't know if you were asleep in economics class, or if you even made it that far.

The proposition cutting taxes and imposing tariffs are NOT inflationary, is as absurd as any claim you don't attack the messenger.

Now get back to worshipping at the altar of the orange Jesus.

You do know why Trump is orange, right? It's not makeup, it's bilirubin backing up.

I support Ukraine against Russia and in the same vein I support Denmark, Panama, and Canada against Trump.

Putin and Trump -- birds of a feather.

What's even funnier not ha ha is the not even his most hard core maga base thought they were voting for what he is trying to do with imperialistic expanding the land of the USA. Russia has plenty of land already and so does the USA.
