Dear Folks,

 

First and foremost, I wish to wish every single TV Member a wonderful, healthy, propitiously auspicious, and generally AMAZING Chinese Lunar New Year…..!!!!!....in 2025…..

 

Just as I always am prone to do, at about this time of year.

 

However…I ask you…..

 

What is so different about THIS Chinese New Year?

 

Well, …..

 

This CNY coincides with the release of a very AMAZING “rationalizing” (some might say thinking) AI out of China, and one which is almost as good, or perhaps better in some respects, than the offering from OpenAI, for the money I mean.

 

Also, this Chinese AI is definitely OPEN-SOURCE….which is amazing.

And, for sure, we can download it and install it on our PCs…..FOR FREE.

Which is what I intend to do before this night is out, or maybe into the wee hours, before the first day of the Chinese Lunar New Year has passed us by.

 

This is the year of the SNAKE, after all.

 

Some of you might be wondering How-To, how to install an amazing AI on your own personal computer.

 

I will just give you a few hints here, in case you might be planning to install your very-own AI, yourselves.

 

It’s definitely not difficult, and the procedures have already been tested, and approved.

This is just another reason, of course, why I love Chinese culture.

The Chinese scientists really do care about us, unlike guys such as Sam, or the Son of Sam, as I like to sometimes call him.

 

Normally, in Chinese Culture, the Chinese Lunar New Year is a….FAMILLY AFFAIR, as I am sure you have found out, by now.  Unfortunately, I have no Chinese family, these days. In fact, both of my Chinese wives are somewhere in the USA, locations unknown. And, this does not bother me much, actually.

 

So, instead, I will celebrate my Chinese Lunar New Year by installing a Chinese AI, instead of spending time with my two wives.  The Chinese AI I choose is DeepSeek AI.  And, as I repeatedly say, it is ….. OpenSource, something which might make even Linus drool.

 

Let me say that this Topic is not designed to be some sort of DeepSeek installation tutorial. No way.  However, I might just add a link or two to help you guys know how to download it, and how to get the gist of the installation, and also help you understand what it might be good for.

 

The good news is that this seems to be a disruptor to companies such as Sam’s.  And, you guys know just how much I love the Fry-Speaking head of NON-OpenAI…..right?

 

I am all for DeepSeek and companies similar to DeepSeek. We need to take Sam down a peg or two.  I mean, who walks around in the White House with those huge puffed-up cardboard shoulders in one’s suit?

Note:  You know, Guys..I have been waiting all my life for something this amazing to happen. And, it finally has, this Chinese New Year of the Snake, in 2025.  I was first amazed by being able to use spoken commands to control my computer back in the year 2000, or so.  But….this, here, software from DeepSeek is just so much more advanced ... .and……it blows my mind.

 

What I can so clearly see now is that…..

 

This is ONLY the Beginning.

Sorry, but I forgot to mention that there are many who will be Celebrating the Chinese Lunar New Year engaged in other pursuits.

 

For one thing, I have noticed far more flights flying overhead this evening.

So, this means that those aboard are probably not installing the Chinese AI, DEEPSEEK, on their computers.

 

Tons of flights, and tons of noise, this evening....

But, since this happens ONLY once per year...
I can forgive this noise....

 

 

As long as the Chinese passengers are HAPPY, this evening, blasting overhead in their Boeing aircraft....

Then, this is what makes me happy, too, this year of the snake.

 

Still, I just wonder....

Why would the Chinese be flying home on the eve of the Lunar New Year?

 

Any ideas?

Sometimes, AI is good.

And, at other times, AI is BAD, even dastardly.

 

Here is an example of AI acting DASTARDLY:

 

a.  Gemini keeps popping up when one is trying to compose an email.

b.  Why does Gemini do this?

c.  Just because Google's AI can be dastardly, rather often.

 

How does one turn off Gemini on Chinese Lunar New Year?

If we continue to use AI during the Year of the Snake, then....we are bound to soon become....

 

Bonafide dribbling  and drooling idiots.

 

Turn off Gemini, is my advice!

 

But, download, install, and enjoy DeepSeek on your personal computers.

Because, the Chinese AI is a REASONING AI.

And, Gemini is a Babbling, Hallucinating, Idiot LLM AI.

Let's not forget that if one installs DeepSeek that it will install and run on your PC, even when not connected to the Internet, or any other network.

You can ask it to do almost anything, and XiJinPinig in Beijing will not know.

 

You can ask it for a date with TankMan, for example, and DeepSeek will tell you if TankMan is actually a woman or not, and whether she dates Farang.

 

The V3 is very powerful and might be able to help you with your Algebra homework, to Trig homework, for that matter.

 

Version 3 is very powerful, and if your PC is powerful, you will be able to download a larger model of V3, and run it very zippily.

 

Sort of like pizza, you don't know how good it is until you try it.

 

 

I will say that we do not know how V3 was developed, exactly, where they got their data, which GPUs they used, who are the people that actually developed it.

 

But, I think one of the investors must have been that guy who is always talking about UNICORNS....unicorns this, and unicorns that.

You can find his book for free on the internet. Maybe ask DeepSeek to help you find a free copy. I would not pay for the book, but I would read the book, or did read the book, and it was OK, yet very simple and self-promoting.  The guy is from Taiwan, after-all....

 

 

I am happy that we have an OpenSource Model as good as DeepSeek.

We need to get rid of Sammy.

Sammy is gumming up the works with his super Ego and his Charlatan ways.

 

V3 might be opensouce, but still there is very much we do not know about its development, as I just mentioned.

 

Let's wait and see what happens, and what we are able to learn, within the next month, and maybe then more people will be happy to download and install DeepSeek on their very own PCs.....

Just in case some readers might have less knowledge of what AI is, and how DeepSeek might work, and a few other things which differentiate AI models...

 

This Guy:   Mike Pound is based at the University of Nottingham  here speaks in a very nice video presentation....and explains much, simply.

 

Mike is very personable.

Must be a good teacher and researcher, and I can spot them a mile away.

 

So, if you want to know a bit more about DeepSeek and how it might be different, or have taken a different approach....(mixture of experts, for example)  ....then watch...

Nonsense, I use it as a webpage which runs in my browser as a webpage - when I load that webpage.

 

I don't use apps.

 

The browser is the app.

 

Also, for me, my phone is for telling me the time and the occasional SMS message.

I do not consider the AI download to PC, to be run locally, as an....APP, as you call it.

 

I am not referring to the download for Apple Phones, and other fruity fones, even obliquely.
