Time to accept defeat Z and save what's left of your population.

The day you discover Russia's 150+ years of weaponized propaganda, designed to maximize harm to enemies. History has no parallel. Russia weaponized whataboutism as a cold war weapon.  Like when someone criticizes Russian propaganda, they say:

"When will you finally wake up from Western MSM lies and misinformation."

I don't see it.   I know Putin started pushing "Ukraine lost" propaganda hard when some in the US pushed for negotiations. As if Putin ever abided by negotiations.

Here is how Ukraine has lost, not to mention Russia lost 100,000 tons of weapons yesterday.

On this point Trump is right " He can have Peace or, he can fight for another three years before losing the whole Country,”

Donald Trump’s insistence that Ukraine officially recognise Moscow’s annexation of Crimea under a peace deal with Russia has suddenly confronted European capitals with an agonising choice: stick with Kyiv or side with Washington.

Some European officials fear differences over the Trump administration’s one-sided draft accord will put bilateral relations with London, Berlin and other capitals to the test, undermine transatlantic security and potentially derail a Nato summit in late June.

The Europeans have always been “in a weak position to stand up to the US”, said Jeremy Shapiro, director of the US programme at the European Council on Foreign Relations. “They’ve been trying to avoid it for that reason.”

Meloni will be the first to fold. Then it will be a rout of European unity. Italy supported Ukraine only to the extent that this was the US position as each folds the attendant costs rise precipitously for each remaining player - expect weasel wordsmithing from the UK we are great at that.

Why Crimea matters to Ukraine now, more than ever:

  1. Sovereignty and International Law:
Russia's 2014 annexation of Crimea violated international law and Ukraine's territorial integrity. Reclaiming Crimea has become symbolic of restoring Ukrainian sovereignty and reversing a precedent that could embolden further land grabs elsewhere.

  2. Strategic Military Importance:
Crimea is a massive military asset. It houses Russia’s Black Sea Fleet and provides a key naval and air base network for projecting power in the Black Sea, the Middle East, and beyond. For Ukraine, regaining Crimea would neutralize this threat and increase its security.

  3. Economic and Energy Interests:
Crimea’s waters are rich in natural gas reserves. Control over these offshore assets would bolster Ukraine's energy independence. The peninsula also once served as a key hub for tourism and agriculture.

  4. Displacement and Human Rights:
Since the annexation, thousands of Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars have been displaced or faced repression under Russian rule. For many, restoring Ukrainian control means justice and the right of return.

  5. Moral and National Identity:
For Ukraine, Crimea isn't just land — it’s part of the national psyche. Letting it go could fracture national unity and morale, especially after the sacrifices made during the war.

In short, Crimea’s return isn’t just about borders — it’s about law, identity, safety, and future prosperity.

Russia’s Perspective:

  1. Historical Claims:
Russia often cites deep historical ties. Crimea was part of Russia until 1954, when it was transferred to Ukraine (then part of the USSR) by Khrushchev. Many Russians view that transfer as arbitrary and see Crimea as "historically Russian."

  2. Strategic and Military Value:
Sevastopol is home to the Black Sea Fleet — a critical naval stronghold for Russia. Losing it to a pro-West Ukraine (especially after the 2014 Euromaidan revolution) was seen as a strategic red line.

  3. Population Sentiment:
Russia claims the majority-Russian-speaking population in Crimea supported joining Russia — citing a controversial 2014 referendum (held under military occupation and not recognized by most of the world).

  4. Buffer Against NATO:
Russia views NATO’s expansion as a threat. Controlling Crimea gives Moscow a military buffer and influence over the Black Sea.

 International Perspective:

  1. Widespread Non-Recognition:
The UN General Assembly passed resolutions affirming Crimea as part of Ukraine. The annexation is seen as a violation of international law and the 1994 Budapest Memorandum, in which Russia guaranteed Ukraine's borders.

  2. Sanctions:
Russia’s actions led to sanctions by the EU, U.S., and allies, targeting its economy, political figures, and military operations. These were expanded further after the 2022 full-scale invasion.

  3. Precedent Concern:
Countries fear that letting the annexation stand normalizes land grabs through military force — dangerous for global stability (e.g., Taiwan, South China Sea, or elsewhere).

  4. Support for Ukraine:
Many countries now link Crimea’s return to any future peace deal, seeing it as essential for a just and lasting resolution.

Russian strikes on Ukraine "don't stop, then the first step is this: Lift the range restriction [on current Ukraine missile launchings]. And the second step is that we deliver the Taurus," he said.

That way, he added, Russian President Vladimir Putin "has it in his hands how far he wants to escalate this war further."

Germany's DW reported in July that Merz spoke in favor of Berlin aiding Kyiv to protect against Russian aggression and supply it with combat aircraft.

"I believe that we should help Ukraine at least restore sovereignty over its own airspace," he was quoted as saying.

Although Scholz has been reluctant to send Kyiv heavy weaponry, Berlin trails only Washington in the amount of support provided to Ukraine. Scholz has insisted that it is essential to secure the "sovereignty of Ukraine and [ensure] that it will not be forced to submit to a dictated peace."

In November, Scholz attacked the final declaration of the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro for not plainly stating that Russia was responsible for the war in Ukraine, even as he restated his opposition to sending long-range missiles to Kyiv.

"In my view, supplying cruise missiles would be a mistake for many reasons," he said at the time -- including the danger that it would bring Germany closer to direct conflict with Russia.

Domestically, Scholz, seeking a bounce-back in the polls ahead of the February 23 election, accused Merz of seeking support from the far-right Alternative for Deutschland (Germany) or AfD, which would break the taboo against the mainstream parties in the country cooperating with the party.

Following World War II, Germany has done "very well in the past decades when the democratic parties agreed not to cooperate with the extreme right," Scholz said.

Merz underlined that his Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and Bavarian CSU allies would not cooperate or rule with the virulently anti-immigration AfD.

"I want to make it clear here once again that we will not do that," Merz said. “There are no similarities between the AfD and the [CDU/CSU]."

The CDU/CSU alliance, which is polling at about 30 percent, has itself pressed for tougher immigration policies in an effort to draw voters away from the AfD, which is polling at around 20 percent.

Scholz said Merz's proposal to reject all migrants at Germany's borders "contradicts European law."

Scholz’s Social Democrats and the Greens each are at around 15-18 percent support ahead of the vote for the next parliament, or Bundestag.

ING bank analyst Carsten Brzeski wrote that the debate likely ended in a draw and -- though heated at times -- was relatively "well-behaved," which could leave open the possibility of a "grand coalition" involving the CDU and other groups in an effort to shut out the AfD, which has been accused of having ties to Russia.

Initial public opinion polls also scored the two politicians' performances in the debate as roughly equal.

Scholz and Merz are scheduled to meet again in a head-to-head debate on February 19.

They are also scheduled meet in a four-way debate on February 16 with AfD's Alice Weidel and Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck from the Greens.

The problem is he will need to spend 14m for all of the tickets.

All of this for the sake of a maybe 5m jackpot.

But I suppose, at least he'll be called a winner.

You didn't read this I can tell as it does zero to support this contention. Indeed it is telling the world to support Ukraine

In the article, it quotes Jeremy Shapiro of the ECFR, who was skeptical about the EU’s ability to remain united:

“If the Americans walk away, it is just not going to be possible for the Europeans to be unified on Ukraine. The Americans have been the source of unity on Ukraine.”

So if you take out Fico and Orbán, whose positions have always been clear, you're left wondering: who will be the next to fold? My money’s on Meloni. Why?

First, over a year ago, she was pranked by Russian comedians into admitting that Europe was suffering from Ukraine fatigue — and now that fatigue is showing everywhere, in spades.

Second, Trump wants this over, and Meloni appears to have one of the best relationships with him among European leaders.

Third, European governments are financially tapped out, their armies are diminished, and their armories are relatively empty given the scale of rearmament now facing them.

It’s a perfect storm — and it won’t end well for Ukraine.

🇮🇹 Giorgia Meloni's Stance on Ukraine

1. Remarks on 'Ukraine Fatigue'

In September 2023, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni was deceived by Russian pranksters posing as African Union officials. During the call, she acknowledged that "there is a lot of fatigue on all sides" regarding the Ukraine conflict and mentioned the need for a resolution acceptable to all parties.

2. Relationship with Donald Trump

Meloni has cultivated a notably close relationship with former U.S. President Donald Trump. She was the only EU leader invited to his January 2025 inauguration and visited him at Mar-a-Lago earlier that month. Trump has praised her as a "fantastic woman" who is "really taking Europe by storm."

3. Italy's Military and Financial Constraints

Italy's defense spending remains below NATO's 2% GDP target, estimated at 1.49% in 2024. While Meloni has been a vocal supporter of Ukraine, Italy's limited military resources and financial constraints pose challenges to sustaining long-term support.

🔍 Conclusion

Your observations are supported by recent developments:

The EU's unity on Ukraine is heavily influenced by U.S. involvement.

Meloni has publicly acknowledged "Ukraine fatigue" and maintains a close relationship with Trump.

Italy faces financial and military limitations that could impact its support for Ukraine.

These factors contribute to the complex dynamics within the EU regarding continued support for Ukraine.

and the master of the "BS" deal didn't do anything to convince the Russian dictator to accept Ukraine terms but he's trying everything and anything to force Ukraine to accept the worse deal ever. To make a deal like that anybody can do it, just accept every demand from Putin and the deal is done, sell/give away somebody's else country and that's a done deal, my 11 years old nephew could do better than that. With a proposed deal as it was publicized it just confirms that he's a Russian asset known as Krasnov, trying to protect his master Putin and he does has the face to call himself the master of the deal, how many GOOD deals has this guy made in all his life as a business man, he can only achieve a deal by using blackmail and threatening tactics, that's how the mafia used to make deals. Trump also suffers from short term memory loss as he can't remember what he said during his first term about a country illegally grabbing other country's land, border can not be changed

That's not the point, though you're cheering on barbarism as a response to barbarism.

During World War II, the Allies for the most part scrupulously adhered to the rules of war, even when the Nazis blatantly did not (think of the Great Escape and many other examples).

Upholding those standards isn’t just about fairness — it’s the right thing to do, especially if we claim to be fighting for Western values.
